welded and bent up the pieces I need , and got it "built"

Tacked into place for now , untill I "blow" it all apart again for paint , I will then finish all the welding .

if you compare the previous pics of the seats , you'll notice the seats wernt level .. but now with the rear floor support in ,

and Now .. I can finish the rear tub !!!!! ;D

Well I thought it looked like a million bucks before, must be a half a million more now, at least. We never see them things over here, at least I haven't. Our first intro to something like that was the 1984 4 Runner. I have taken a liking to these trekkers, mainly because it is something different, and I like to be different. I think you are doing a great job on your vehicle, and commend you for your efforts

mock up today of the rear seat area .....

rear seats "loosly" fit in to place .. time to start on seat belt location + some extras ....

seatbelts and roll bar are going to be tied into the support frame (all trekkers have em) that I will be custom building .
a look at the rear seats in position as well as the new wheel well/arm rest .

I have just read this entier thread, and I am aware that I can not say anything that has not already been said. however I hope that I have the will to put the workmanship into my project that you have yours. awsome work and thank you for a great read.

I can't wait! Well I can wait but after a couple of days of getting hardly any work done at the office cause i have been hooked on this thread.. This is fantastic. I'm actually glad that i get to anticipate the final product before seeing it. I'm pretty sure you'll completely surpass my expectations as you have several times in the last 32 pages of this Epic Build!
Hats off!

little bit done today
started on the frame to support the tub , and tie into the roll bar and seat belts
started with building the main supports .. and yes the tops are NOT level . This is due to the uneven fiberglass floor .

ready to go (4 built )

starting to "piece" it all together
drivers side

passenger side is different , because of the fuel filler tube .. had to be routed over top .

all sectioned together and ends plugged ...
I have too very strong mounts

and mounted

still have to build the cross bars ... But it will have to wait till after I pull the tub off for rienforcing ..
the glass will add to the thickness of the tub , so I cant build the final floor support untill the tub is done ..

excellent day ...
got my check list done...
feet welded on the bar

and my goal today was to have the seats basically done..
I have welded the locks and covers .. (you can see in the pic)
lock button supports welded
headrest supports welded
seat back cushions "carved" and fitted

also got the roll bar mounts done.. well tacked anyway ...
I decided I didnt need the "swivel joints" anyway .. the sub frame is mounted on rubber bushings , and the whole tub will flex as a unit .. good to go !!

also started work on the rear tub member ... I dont think the thickness of the glass will be a problem , as the underside on this section is almost done anyway ..
still have to weld it ... but heres were I finished up the day at

sorry for the crappy pics... my "good" camera took a dive for the worst .. so i'm dealing with my phone for now ..

Looking good slacker. I am enjoying following your build. And also getting some good ideas. We should be starting on my sons 87 pu by summer, he wants to replace the bed sides with some of yours. I read your post asking about interset in high clearance rears for 4runners. Will these be a complete side replacement?

I am interested thats for sure. I could have replaced an whole rear with one of yours in the amount of time of time it has taken me to replace bad metal and fill with body filler. The area directly behind the drivers door on my 85 4runner was caved in at one time, and the metal was beyond straightening. I was prepping the bottom of the truck for bed liner and found the gallon or so of body filler covering it was spidered. Are you able to give an estimate of what they will come in at. I would also be interested in some interior parts made out of glass. Like the trim around the removable top, rear interior pannels with doors, and front seat belt holders, the ones next to the console by the driver and pass. Sorry I know this is in the wrong area.
