My home made dashboard real wood

This is what it looks like without the original cracked dash.

Still have to do some more sanding and glueing then it's time for polyurethane.

You have an awesome start, creativity at it's best. Never thought of wood as a dash pad

How much I had to carve out the underside

The hook by the glovebox is for a gun rack.

It turned out much better than I expected. Good luck to anyone that would like to make another one. It was a little challenge but it was fun.

PBJ dash mod!

That did turn out really well.

Could you give a little more detail on which materials were used please?

Wood, glue, and sealers.

Maybe a bit on the construction, and attachment?

Biscuit joints, attachment just screwes or is there reinforcement.

Please keep us updated on the durability, I forsee this being a "thing"!

well done sir!

As far as construction and "how to" you guys would have to figure out how to make it. It takes knowing what angles to cut and where you need it cut. I have had multiple jobs in a verity of trades in carpentry. Most of all in making and building custom stairs that taught me a lot on the custom end.

the lumber is old growth red cedar and pine. I used tightbond wood glue. I didn't use any nails just wood screws to attach around by the gages. I used about 10 half inch screws to attach the dash to the metal on the underside. The finish is many coats of semi gloss polyurethane.

I really would like more people to do this. It is not for someone to do as there first woodworking project.

my brother is a welder he thinks all my welds suck but they hold. I do enjoy it though working with my hands is in my blood. The secret to being a "good " carpenter is to hide your mistakes.

Wood dash still doing great

Put my swamp cooler back in for the summer. Works pretty good til it hits more than 100 then forget it.
One of the gun racks in the truck. Got this idea from old army jeeps.
