im not sure how much lift ill be doing,. i have 3in springs but i thought about some longer shackles but still unsure, prob just a 3in for now and some nice 33 km2, i want a dd not a peice of history to beat up and wheel.

Yeah the pictures really don't do those hubs justice...well worth every penny!

I'm interested to see how well the upgrade will perform too. From what I read, people that have done the upgrade really like it.

You hit the nail on the head, I've tried to plan out everything step by step and do things as time and money allows. And you're right, I will be very glad when the truck is on the road again.

 

any updates? its been awhile

 

The truck is at the paint and body shop now. In fact I haven't been over there in about a month to see what the progress has been.

Unfortunately my phone with all my pictures broke and I lost all the pictures I had showing the 2wd to 4wd bed conversion

I also put in a tilt steering column and stock power steering too...much better than the manual stuff for sure. Before I took it to the paint shop, I took it for a quick spin. It was the first time it had been driven in about 15 years and I had a blast just cruisin around.

The guy that is doing the paint does the work on the side and he takes his time. I probably won't have the truck back until sometime after the first of the year. He's going to take it completely apart (frame off) so it'll just about be brand new when I get it back. Until then I'll be searching for and buying all the new parts it'll need as it gets put back together.

Next time I'm at the paint shop, I'll take some pictures to show it's progress.

Thanks! I tried to keep it as simple as possible and throw in a few common upgrades I read about. I'll probably stop by in a couple weeks over at the paint shop to check on the progress.

That's what it turned into. It was really a nut and bolt restoration, until I talked to the painter and asked how he was going to paint the firewall and inner fenders with the engine in the way and how he was going to spray the undercoat. He said he was take the truck completely off the frame to do all that. I've seen his work on other cars, so I think mine ought to look about showroom new when he's done.

Man I want to see that paint job soon good lookin truck i have a 82 and I love it so much, all I hardly o is work on my restore and love every minute of it, been workin 7 days a week for about four months now so all I can do is look at what you guys are doing but the bank roll is getting up there so I'll be in hog heaven before I know it

It's been awhile since I've seen my truck also. It's in good hands though, and the paint/body man calls me with updates on a regular basis. He's been taking his time and although I'm ready for it to be finished I don't want to rush him because I know the paint job is the most important part. Hopefully work will slow down a bit and I can stop by in a couple weeks to take a few pics in and post it's progress. Stay tuned

It's been awhile since I posted, but the truck is still alive and well. I made a mistake taking it to one guy who was supposed to complete all the paint and bodywork, but did nothing over the past several months

Three weeks ago I moved the truck to a new shop and it is really making a lot of progress. The paint should be done by mid-November and then I will bring it home to finish it up with all the goodies. I'll take some pictures of it at the shop this weekend and post them up.

 

I stopped by the paint shop a couple times this week to drop off some parts and check the progress. Three weeks ago this truck was yellow and the body needed some desperate attention. I am very happy with its progress so far.





They also fixed the inner fender where the battery leaked and rusted it out.

They had the bed off today. Next week they are going to flip the bed over, do a little body work and spray the on the undercoater (bed liner).





In the next couple weeks, plans are to strip the rest of the interior and get it ready for paint also. I'll be posting more pictures in the coming weeks.
