Pump looks to be correct, but it is a tight fit and the parts can be tricky especially if you don't have a disassembly to go off of. Here are some pics that might help you out.
From top right: power steering bracket, tensioner bracket, power steering pump bracket support (it straddles the water pump inlet and a bolt goes through it and the back side of the big PS bracket into the pump and also mounts to the hole that you said "doesn't line up" on the front side of the pump. I think you may be missing this), power steering pump.
From lower right: lower alternator bracket, driver motor mount bracket, passenger motor mount bracket, power steering pulley, tensioner pulley

And not pictured in the above picture is the alternator tension adjustment bracket (in thr middle of the picture below). Might be missing this too.

And assembly:

I hope this helps, let me know if you can't figure it out.

It may also help to lay out all your power steering parts, take a picture and post them here. If you do that I can easily tell you what you are missing and post some pictures so you know what they look like.

he already posted pix here but he also sent me one in a PM:

Now as far as shipping items from the USA to Canada goes, can I get that customs form at the post office for free because I don't want to wait 7-10 business days to order this directly from the usps.com website for free in bundles of ten (he is on vacation and needs his power steering up by august 9th but the shipping company says this will take 6-10 business days to ship out so I'm trying to ship it today before its too late)

Thanks Erick for taking the effort to send my parts as soon as possible, I have oredered many parts from the US new and used but I've never been told about special envelopes or things like that.
Dave, your parts seem to line up and bolt so well, and they seem so similar to mine, but unfortunately the pump doesn't work with the bracket I've tried every single way, only 2 out of the 4 bolt holes like up. Erick is sending me the Y shaped bracket which I don't have, a 20r pump (which sucks cause mine is freshly rebuilt) that should work with my bracket and the crank pulley adapter. Once I get the parts I'll see what I do with the tensioner bracket and where it bolts to the head. Have a good holiday Dave! Then back to the garage!!

The parts are on their way already, sorry I didn't think about asking you, shipping would have been cheaper I'm sure, but I'm just happy to have found the parts I need.

So I've been driving a lot lately and last week-end I noticed it didn't smoke as much. Today I decided to get on it a bit more and damn, it barely smokes at all, runs much smoother and I seem to have a bit more power. Great news! I'm going to be beating the hell out of it so I can free up the rings as much as I can. I will also take another compression reading soon.
I've got this clunk in the steering I need to check and a squeaky noise in the brakes I need to adress, I think I'm gonna do a once over on all the bolts.

I just got back in town, but I'll slide by the Bat Cave (AKA storage location #3 where my chassis is located) and snap some pictures for you at some point in my travels tomorrow.

Here are some pictures for you. Sorry about the crappy lighting, there was a power outage and I had to use a flashlight.
Looking from the driver side rear. Note the wishbone shaped bracket that attaches down to the block and straddles the water pump inlet:

Looking from the driver side:

Another from the driver side:

From the front. Note where the wishbone bracket bolts to the block just below center of the picture and to the right of the timing cover. You can also see the sliding adjustment tensioner for the alternator and where the top front part of the wishbone bracket mounts (The two bolt to the top left of the alternator pulley):

From the driver side rear. Here you can see how the top rear of the wishbone bracket mounts through the upper PS pump bracket and into the pump:

From above rear. Upper bracket mounting location and rear mounting of the pump:

From passenger side top. Tensioner pulley bracket mounting to the head. Note where the bracket also attaches to the upper PS pump bracket:

And here's a walk around video that might help too:

Also remember that the power steering brackets are different between 79-84 and 85+. So if you have a 85+ head and 79-84 PS pump setup or 79-84 head and a 85+ PS pump setup it will not bolt on directly. Supposedly, you can modify the brackets rather easily to make if work if you do not have a matching setup.
I hope this helps, let me know if you need any more pictures or info.

Great that really showed me the differences I'm having with my setup. I'm pretty sure the bracket is wrong even though on pictures it looks the same because I had to grind the pump quite a lot to fit my distributor and it still rubs a little. Also my tensioner bracket is not at the same angle as yours therefore I can't bolt it to the head at all. I was also wondering where that Y shaped bracket goes and I saw it clearly on the pictures. I think however this setup will work, it will only be missing one tensioner bracket bolt (the one that bolts on the head). Thanks for the pics! And to Erick too for sending me nicely packaged parts in good condition.

The pump does fit rather snug under the distributor, but you shouldn't have to grind anything away. Do you know if all the parts came off the same vehicle or was it pieced together?

Pump bracket off an 87 4runner and idler pulley bracket too. My original pump was supposed to be from an 83, but it didn't fit the bracket at all like showed in the pics above, so erick561 sent me a 20r pump and Y shaped bracket as well as the crank pulley. The pump is almost identical to mine exept for the front mounting holes for the bracket. Now the 20r pump fits perfect on the 87 bracket, and the bracket fits on my 20r head, exept the distributor would absolutely not fit without grinding the pump, so I'm guessing my 87 bracket is not the same as pre 83 or 84 or 85. even though on pics they look identical and an old toyota truck specialist around here told me 79-95 brackets are the same but they are not. I'm leaving in 3 days so I'm going back to the garage to finish the install, it should work, especially since I will only be putting on the p/s belt when in the trails. I'll post pics when I'm done.

how did you mount the idle pulley bracket in front of your 20r head which came factory without p/s?

Sorry for the delay guys! I did end up making it to the trail, but things have gone really bad since then. As soon as I left my house the engine started knocking, it's like this knocking sound only above 2500 rpms, only under load, but I can't hear or feel it at full throttle at high rpms, and barely audible when I rev it in neutral. I'm leaning more towards piston slap than rod bearings or timing chain (new guides) or maybe something in the head. Anyways I decided to still do the 300 miles to the trail, with the powersteering setup all installed and going well. Once I got there I retarded the timing a lot until I couldn't hear the knock, but I had no power. Didn't do much wheeling but still enough to have fun

Then when we left the trail 3 days after arriving, the front drive-shaft bolts got loose and I lost the drive-shaft on the road, it hit my t-case and made a big hole in it and and all the fluid poured out. So I had about 300km to do without oil in the t-case, the bed packed full we weighted in at 1620kg on a scale we stoped at. She made it home, with only a slight hissing noise that never really got worse, these things are built pretty tough.
To answer your question erick, my p/s bracket is not bolted to the head, it does not even line up,

It is the only place that is not bolted. So far all is holding up good and it is so nice in the trails to have power steering with a locked front diff, went from literally undrivable to turn the wheel with one hand. It still offers a nice feeling on the road so I might just keep it all the time. I'll be keeping my eyes open for the correct brackets.
So my friend gave me a t-case he had laying around for the last 10 or so years which I believe comes form an 85-95 efi model according to the description on marlin's site, I had some problems installing because of the shifter rods sticking out too much, I had to cut them. The new t-case is a bit noisier but hey at least it works for now. It's been depressing because I really miss driving it but now I have no money to spend on it and no place to work on it, the big project I'm doing now is building a shed to store all of the non-car related crap that is now taking up all the space in the garage, then I'm turning our home garage into a mecanic workshop so we can rebuild my gf's scirroco and my truck again next winter, starting with a rebuilt engine that will be bulletproof, stay tuned
