So I got a 77 wolverine in a trade. The truck runs awesome and is in decent shape other than some rust in the floor boards and front fenders and some interior issues. Does anyone know what transfer case came in these? And will any 2wd body fit on these? Any other information would be greatly appreciated thanks!
are those OE steelies? inquiring because my 1st gen has the same one as a spare and always wondered.
I honestly couldn't tell you. I'm new to these Toyotas I've always wanted one andbthoand it would be a cool project. Is there a way to tell if they are OE?
I have a 1978 toyota pickup that is 4wd and I've been reading about a some trucks like these that have whats called a wolverine 4x4 conversion is there anyway i can identify this to know if its original or if the previous owners did the conversion themselves

Toyota started offering 4WD in their Trucks for the 1979 model year. Before that, all Toyota pickups (outside of the Land Cruisers) were 2WD from the factory.
If you have a 1978 pickup, then the 4WD system was added at some point, but I don't know enough about the Wolverine conversion to know if yours is or not.
The front axle is an easy way to tell if it was a factory conversion or home. The early factory conversions used a dana front axle (cant remember what model) because they were produced in the states instead of japan. If it has a Toyota solid axle up front, it should be home made. There were a few threads on here about wolverines, trekkers, and breaker-breaker trucks that lined out the differences and how to spot the legit ones. Either way, its a damn cool rig, my mom used to rock a 74 Hilux when I was a kid, I always wanted to convert it to a 4wd.
