Hi all, I just installed this remote start kit on my 2013 Limited: http://a.co/6v6Oqqh

The module seems to work fine. If I attempt the remote start, it locks the doors and tries to start the 4runner. Unfortunately, it doesn't turn over. Not even a clicking sound. Same goes for when trying to start it using the push to start button. No joy. I can still put it in Accessory/On mode just fine. The check engine light, A/T oil temp, battery and oil lights are all on. Tried unplugging the remote start kit but it still does not start.

I'm thinking it may have something to do with the security system. Does the security system stop the vehicle from starting when the under dash panels are not in place?

yours is a push start 4runner right?
start over checking your wiring and or contact the company.

 

#1: it says recommend professional installation
#2: it says computer reflash included
#3: your 4runner is only 5 years old and you're already going cheap

I don't have experience with this particular kit, I went with a much more expensive unit. However, after a few months my 2015 wouldn't start and exhibited the same symptoms you describe. I removed the unit entirely and the dealer ended up replacing the BCM to fix it. Needless to say, I won't be reinstalling it.
