What model/year Toyota solid front axle would fit my 2001 Nissan Frontier?
Sorry its not really yota talk, but I need yota parts.

i would use a cruiser axle with a high pinion diff or any 79-84 solid front axles in the trucks or runners will work. 83-84 had a trussed housing

Out of curiosity, have you not considered a 4x4 Frontier to SAS? Or even a Toyota Tacoma? I don't mean to speak ignorantly, but it would save you a good deal of cash on the custom fabrication you'll likely have to do.

You've got a good point. I'm mostly just in the research portion of the process. And at the stage I'm at mechanically, starting 4x4 would be premium

i have heard of people using the trailgear sas kit on an xterra. not sure how similar the frames are but might be an option. if you have a driver side drop on the front you need to filp the housing, knuckles, and the third member

in that case if you have a manual tranny. it might be easy as heck especially if its an aisin transmission. the bellhousings are interchangeable on most and can most likely bolt an r151 and tcase up to the motor with no adapters. there is a list out there somewhere with all of the interchangability. if you have the six speed you might have to use a 96+ tranny to get the right input shaft length

It is a manual tranny and I will have to do my clutch soon.. So the r151 with tcase is sounding pretty good right now. Lol thanks

let me dig around and see if i can find it. 01 frontier, is it a 6 or a 5 speed. might be able to use just the output housing on your existing tranny to get a case to bolt up. ill get back to ya in a little with more specifics. i have a thread saved somewhere where this exact thing was done.

i having a hell of a time finding the list here is a partioal one
I'm NOT an Isuzu guru but I've done some digging into just what can fit what and I've posted that info at various sites. Some of it might be helpful to you gents. Here goes:

The Jeep/Dodge AX15 5-speed, the Jeep NV3550 5-speed, the Toyota R150F & R151F, the 87-92 Toyota Supra Turbo R154 and the Isuzu AR5 5-speed all share the same case to bellhousing bolt pattern. As such there are a number of possibilities that can be had when a 5-speed is desired:

94-95 Dakota 2.5L bellhousing: Connects all to any K car based 2.2L-2.5L L4 in a RWD application.

94-99 Dakota 3.9L V6 Bellhousing: Connects all to any 3.9L V6 and any 273/318/340/360 V8.

96-99 Dakota 2.5L bellhousing: Connects all to any Jeep 2.5L L4. Because of it's GM inherited bolt pattern, also works with any Buick FWD V6 and supercharged V6, any Chevrolet 2.8/3.1/3.4 V6, any Cadillac 4.1/4.5/4.9 V8 and with a minor modification, any Olds Aurora DOHC V8 and Cadillac DOHC Northstar V8.

88-99 Jeep 4.0L L6 bellhousing: Connects all to any AMC 290/304/343/360/390/401 V8 and any 72 and later 232 L6 and 258 L6.

01-03 Jeep Liberty 3.7L V6 bellhousing: Connects all to any 3.7L V6, 4.7L V8 and 5.7L Hemi V8.

Isuzu Trooper 3.5 V6 AR5 bellhousing: Connects all to any Isuzu 3.2\3.5 V6

Aftermarket:

Advance Adapters: Bellhousing for AX15 to Chevrolet-Buick-Olds-Pontiac V8 and Buick V6. Connects all to same.

Advance Adapters: Adapter plate for AX15 to Ford bellhousing. Connects all to same. Also they have a plate for the NV3550 to do the same.

Novak Enterprises: Adapter plate for AX15 to GM 4-speed bellhousing. Connects all to same.

Further info: Jeep AX5, Toyota W55, W56, W57 and W58 5-speeds all share a common face pattern on the case. As such, any 88-99 Jeep 2.5L bellhousing (NOT Dakota) will bolt a Toyota W series transmission to a 60 degree GM bolt pattern.

Aftermarket: Advance Adapters makes a bellhousing to bolt a W series Toyota trans to a Chevy-Buick-Olds-Pontiac block.

NOTE: Input shafts lengths vary.

Pre 1995 R150\R151 = 6.5"
1995 up Toyota R series = 7.5"
AX15 = 7.5"
87-92 Turbo Supra R154 = 7.25"
AR5 = ?
NV3550 = 7.5"
AX5 = 7.5"
Toyota W series = 6.5"

here is some more

If you want to hook up a Toyota transmission to a GM 3.4 V6 or any other engine with the GM 60 degree bellhousing bolt pattern, you need:

Bellhousing from the 87-99 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L. Hooks up to any G series or W series Toyota tranny.

Bellhousing from 96-00 Dodge Dakota 2.5L. Hooks up to any R series Toyota tranny

Also, you can run a 3.4 > 904 auto > dana 300/atlas with no adapters!

just have to use the AMC eagle auto. I believe you can use one of the 904's from a cherokee, but you'd have to swap over some stuff from a cj 904 to mate up a d300

oyota R-154 = 7.25" (Toyota Supra Turbo)
Toyota R-151-F = 6.25" (1986 -1987 4cyl turbo 4wd, gear transfer case)
Toyota R-150-F = 6.25" (1988 -1995 V-6cyl, 4wd, chain transfer case)
Toyota R-150-F = 7.5" (1996 -2002 V-6 Tacoma, 4wd, chain transfer case)
Jeep AX-15 = 7.5" (1989 -1999 6 cyl, 4wd)
