If you're looking for a starter bike, there's a couple for sale over at www.fzrarchives.com - I have a yamaha fzr 600, great bike to start with. Reliable, as fast as you could want, and relatively inexpensive.
I am a much more alert driver now, although I feel a little silly when I realize I'm leaning into turns in my 4runner

I was just at the DMV here in Denver and some dude comes rolling up on a Monster S4! That is the hottest Monster yet - only problem is it has the goofiest looking radiator and electric fans I've ever seen. You'd think the Italians could put a little more form with the function - IMHO.
I like these redone classics:

http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/7/0/67199170.htm

Yeah they are a little spendy - but WOW! Great lines.
Here is another cool Duc site - www.13choppers.com - a chop that can get in and out of corners like a sport bike!
I moved up pretty quick - I started on a KZ440 and went a M900 within three months. The MSF is a great skill builder, my down fall was the guy that turned left in front of me. He driver literally waited until the last minute to make the turn, all the skill in the world couldn't have saved my ace with that one. Anyway keep it shiny!

I saw those Retro Ducs in Cycle World a while back and was drooling over the GT 1000. I actually expected them to be a little more. If I were to buy one, it would definitely be the GT.
If you ride a Monster, this is a great website: http://www.ducatimonster.org/
There's a great M900 on the main page that's done up to look like an old school Duc. Also, check out the message board.

Here's some of my (hopefully) next bike, the Suzuki SV650. Sporty, comfortable, great all around...
I love what this guy did to his:
Like this one too, a SV ducati conversion... the looks of a duc, the comfort of an SV

My dad gave me some great advise when I was learning to ride on the street. " When you are on a motorcycle you are doing more giving than taking".
Sounds like banter but it really holds true. I am a avid rider for over 20 years on the street and 30 counting dirt / track.

get a $10 helemt if you have a $10 head.
NEVER assume 'they' can see you, KNOW that they dont. i drive like im invisible to another vehicle.
i cut off a MC cop before he let me go after a verbal assault...and the fact that i had a MC license.
ive put over 100,000 miles on different bikes over the years. the 3 accidents i have had was from a person turning left in front of me becuase they didnt see me.
i think since the 80's all street bikes are required to have the headlight on at all times. addition of a (daytime) pulsing feature attracts those w/ the attention span of a gnat.
try having a dad in the fire dept if you wanna hear about graphic deaths.
& he is the one who brought home the honda trial 70 when i was 10.
riding in the dirt before the street also made a significant difference is my ability. the theroy that 'riding before driving' is true is my case. it helped me be aware of my surroundings.
