Garage bike mounting systems

Hi,

I have three mountain bikes and two bmx bikes that I need to store in my garage. Does anyone have any innovative ideas for storing these out of the way? On the ceiling? Any pics? I currently have them in front of a car, and it is tight.

just find where the truss's run across and hang some of those S hooks from the ceiling. Unless your ceiling is really high I guess then maybe on a side wall where there is a stud.

Pretty much like azhondagirl said, hooks from the beams in the ceiling, the hood of the 4runner just fits underneath them, the tandem (not pictured) hangs in between the cars. All the frame sizes on our bikes are large excepting the 2 kids bikes, not sure how high the ceiling is. We got the question mark shaped hooks from home depot and used a stud finder.

You have a nice bike collection. I never see anyone has that many bikes in the garage.

if you cant hang yours from the ceiling, my dad bought these little metal arms with foam padding on them that he hung on the wall studs and he can put 2 bikes on those (theyre like arms just just stick out parallel to the ground). seems to work pretty well

mmmm...bikes! ditto on the question mark shaped hooks. I also attach 2 pieces of rope to the ceiling of my garage with those hooks tied to the ends so i can hang my rides for servicing - cheaper than a stand. works for storage too if you hang them out of the way.

Isnt it bad to hand the bike from the rim? Anyway thats what I do to store my bike but I hang mine another way. I use 2 hooks and hook one through the handlebar and the other under the seat.

I've heard that from somewhere but so far (4 years) we've had no noticeable problems, even with the colnago's wheels. If we'd hung them the other way we wouldn't have had room for them all (there are three others that hang in front of the ones you see) and I'd never be able to reach the frame to get them down.
