That was a funny thread, I would need to install the roofliner which comes with the sunroof. It's almost easier to buy a different 4Runner with all the luxury from the factory.
Mine even has the manual windows and no AC. I do have power doorlocks and mirrors.
A sunroof would be out of place on this one

You think there is a circuit board switch for Fahrenheit or something along those lines? You can always just get used to Celcius, it's quite easy: 0C is freezing, 100C is boiling, but that's been discussed in the metric thread somewhere.
Post some pics once you get it in there.

Oh, I'm okay with the conversion on the fly (Funrunner pointed out to me than an easy approximation for midscale is f = (c*2)+30) but I'll bet that Toyota didn't create their own ASIC to handle temp and humidity when there are plenty on the market that will do it for a VERY low piece price. If I'm right, _ALL_ of them have a pin that you can tie low (or sometimes high) that will flip the display to F.

Google is you're friend, I've looked up several IC partnumbers and have had good luck figuring out what it does and what the pinouts are. I recently had one for steppermotor control, knowing the pinouts helps a bunch.

I had no idea I was bidding against you, I was surprised how low the amount was and put it what it was worth to me. I guess we where the only two interested in it, or daring enought to tackle the wiring.
Too bad you still a ways away, I have some 22 gauge 25 wire stranded control wire you're welcome to use. It is ideal for stuff like this.

I guess when you already have a sunroof, then you don't need many wires. I would bring the sunroof wires down also and was thinking to use the switch for lighting control or something like that.

 

Yeup... I'm an old hat at hardware hacking at various levels. My only concern will be if Toyota sanded off the lettering or otherwise rebranded the chip. Even so, there still aren't that many options and I should be able to figure out what they used by the PS and sensor connections.


!!! Yeah, I was at a friend's house, had to leave at the hour:30 point so I couldn't sit on it and hit it with 10 seconds to go like I normally do. You first hit at T-14, so we still would have probably been in this spot, 'cause you might not have had a chance to rebid after seeing me come in along side of you. But that would have only saved me $5...

I always find it fun to watch "prime" items like this come down to the wire. It interesting to see who's really on the auction and comes out of the woodwork.


I'm set... I have a bunch of small gauge laying around. I'll have to get a feel for how much slack there is in the roof wiring, but I'm thinking that one of the first things I do is add a bit of length to those wires. And of course create a run for the external thermo and the spedo pickup. Heatshrink here I come!

I wonder what the snowflake is... I figure there's a moisture sensor somewhere, or maybe it's a combo of temp & pressure delta becoming an "ice" warning?


My interior is tan, so I'm thinking this will become flat black. We'll have to see how it looks once it gets here.

 

Snowflake comes on on most vehicles around freezing. Sort of an extra warning to watch out for black ice.

Here is the diagram I got the info from. I still had it on my hd from when I put the elocker in. I remembered that the locker doesn't engage over 5 km/hr or so, so I figured it must have a speed signal.

So, when are more of these coming in? I know I would be very intersted, as would many others. I could care less if the temperature was in C, I come from Europe, but it would be real nice if someone could figure out how to display it in F. Does it even have a 3 digit display there?

 

The display is 2 digits, only and the 'c' cannot be changed to 'f'. I was thinking that if you wanted to change the actual number readings, you could just do a tweak with the sensor (I've just started getting into IC's and making my own boards, so I'm not to familiar with these things yet...).

As I have already told a few peeps, I will be 'passively' looking around for more. I wasn't exactly impressed
with the way the auction went. I figured there would be a little more want
for it... If I can't locate one and pull one, myself, I don't think that even I could get it for that price....

I'll let you know if I get anymore, though. I'll be sending midi the wiring directions that I have along with the field monitor. I will be posting the same info here in the forums, somewhere, someday...... time is money (shhh...and I ain't got much of either....shhh)

If you wanted to get more for the unit, then why didn't you set a reserve? I think it's kindof odd, even a bit rude (to the buyer) to be complaining about what an item sold for when you didn't set anything in place to "protect" yourself from the bidding.

I'm sure you understand that the _perceived_ value of something is often different between buyer and seller. I've sold MANY pieces on eBay that went for a lot less than I had hoped. But, that's my fault for either not setting a reserve or having my expectations set too high. Either way, I've never gone back into a public forum and complained about what I got for the item.

I'm comfortable with what I paid for the cluster, and fwiw, it was under my max bid. I'm sorry if you were looking for more.
