You can use the bulb replacement guide to find out what you have:

9006 is a Single Beam bulb. You would need a 9006 Single Beam kit. The colors range from yellow to white to blue to purple and are of your choice.

Yep, you would be looking for the H4 kit. The H4 is a dual beam bulb, so if you wanted both low and hi HID beams, you want the Bixenon kit. If you don't think the high beam is necessary, the Single Beam H4 kit is what you want.

No it's really not that blinding, and it puts out quite a lot of light.

They are blue, not purple, and I haven't even came close to getting pulled over yet.

I'm running a different HID kit in my 894Runner, paid pretty much the same and they are worth it! Here's a pic...that car you see is 3 car lenghts away, i aimed it more down cause the police here hate modified vehicle's!!
running 6k bulbs which i think are the best. this is eye level for me sitting in my runner and taken with my cell phone so the beams look more white.

That sucks man, I would be pissed if they pulled me over and made me go to court. Speaking of purple, I saw a BMW in town that had Purple HID's. It looked pretty sick.

Just have your friend replace the HIDs with halogens and then bring that as evidence to court showing that you've removed them.

It will take you 10 minutes and it'll save you a ticket...
