Is it a 4cyl or V6? How good are you with mechanical stuff? If you are pretty comfortable working on stuff and it's a 4cyl I say go for it. If it's a V6 you better know what you're doing or have someone there who does.
BTW - What is all the specs on your runner? Year, mods, etc?

Ehh, it might be worth it where you are to have someone do it instead of sitting in the cold. It's not a terribly hard job though.
Good luck man! Sounds nice

Its not too hard.
I did it in my kitchen
(the head tear down - I stripped the head so I could get a valve job)
Biggest problem is avoiding the "slippery slope" ont he project (maybe turbo? oh bore out the block etc...

I've got a real nice red 85 4runner (solid axle, efi) very little rust, 117k, great frame, and about 2 grand's worth of work in the last year in the engine bay.
I've been thinking of selling it as I've been jonesing for an FJ40 of late, I might be willing to part with it for the right price. Hit me on email if you want to chat.
