Thanks guys and sorry for my delay in replying. I never got a notification email saying you replied. I'm going to get some 35's, just not sure which ones yet. Are the stock wheels 7" wide or 8" wide? I can't remember it's been so long. I'm picking it up next week from Billings, MT and driving it back to Fort Collins.

Stock are 7" wheels.

That's what I figured. Could I run 35x12.50's on 7's or do I need 8's?

Yes, they may wear a little funny over a lot of road miles though. Aired down though, they would almost be like beadlocks-they should hold a bead really well like that.

Mine are 315's on 7" stock wheels. Wearing evenly after about 4000 miles and a few rocky trips.

Oh, really, nice...glad you said that. Are you running spacers to keep it off the upper a-arms? If so, how big of spacers?

Thanks Jim,

Chris

Do you guys think 35x14.50-17 Pit Bull Rockers on 10" wheels would be too much of tire? I've got plenty of clearance for them, just not sure if they're just too much strain on the front end. I was looking at 3.5 backspaced 9.5" Allied Rock 8 Rock-A-Thons.

Too much, those tires are extremely wide, I mean extremely wide! Spencer has them on his '85 and they will rub like mad on a third gen. Stay 12.50 width on the 3 3/16 backspacing I believe-Steve has the magic backspacing number-he told me but I forgot.

That's what I was afraid of...Are you referring to Steve Schaffer?

Yep, I believe the magic number is something like 3 and 3/16 backspacing on a 15" rim, but I believe they quit making that in a 16" rim. Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels were the ones I was talking about.

Summit is still selling the ~3.5" BS 16x8 MT Classic IIs that Steve recommended. That's where I bought mine last year when I made the jump.

Just saw this thread...that is cool that you were in a position to buy back your 4Runner. Sounded like it was a hard decision in the first place. Can you post up some pictures of it? Must have deleted the links to the previous posts...

Do you have any pics of your vehicle with these wheels on it? I'm a big fan of these wheels, just not sure how they look my my 4runner.

Yeah, when he first emailed me, I was still with Kristen and there was no way I'd even entertain the idea based on how much she hated it before. But, when things changed and she left, I brought it back to the table and ended up buying it back. It needs some work, but I know every square inch of it, to say the least. I'm looking forward to wrenching on it again. One of the first things it needs is a new front bumper and tires/wheels. He got in a little fender/bender up front. Anybody have any recommendations on a non-tube front bumper that is as high clearance as possible?

I haven't taken any new pics of it, but I'll do it one of these days and repost them on here. We might even make it the "official thread" just for Steve S.

Take a look at Steve's site here. There are 6 pics of my silver 4Runner under the picture of the 1.1 kit.

Hey guys,

So, I've got pricing from Sams Club with road hazard, etc:

BFG's KM2's: $226.02/tire
MT/R's: $252.58/tire
Dunlop Mud Rovers: $163.52 I think these would be the worst wearing, but they actually do pretty good off-road.

Those are the only tires they offer, and their pricing is usually pretty darn good. What do you guys think?
