Hello all

I'm in need of tires and rims in the near future. I think i'm going to get 31x10.50 BF goodrich KM2's for the tires part, heard good things and I like the style/look of them.

Alright I'm confused on the wheel part, as far as the whole backspacing and offset deal, quite confusing. I have a completely stock 87 4x4 yota. No lift whatsoever I know 31's will clear with no issues, but it's the rim's fitment I'm worried about.
According to this these Mickey Thompsons will fit my 87 pickup. I know how sometimes sellers tend to be wrong and I don't want to order the wrong thing or something that will not fit.

The backspacing is 4.4375 inches

If someone could clear this up as far as will it work or not, or if you know a mickey thompson classic II size that will fit, please let me know, I plan on doing BJ spacers and chevy leafs in the future, but not before I get new tires..

 

The amount of backspacing is how far the wheel will go into the wheelwell. 4.5" seems deep, so just make sure the wheel won't interfere with the steering arms/tie rod end. And that the design of the wheel will clear the brake caliper.

You may go by a local tire shop and see if they could verify with an old take off or maybe even a new one. Physically fitting one on beats "I hope it'll fit..." anyday.

 

I agree 100% on the test fit, but my local tire place doesn't stock mickey thompsons....there special order:/

So what your saying rokblok is maybe look for a wheel with less backspacing?

 

Measure whats on there now. Lay the tire down on its face(the outside sidewall). Take some type of straight edge and go from one side of wheel lip to the other, make sure the straight edge isn't touching the sidewall of the tire. So basically you're spanning the wheel diameter. Then take a tape measure and go straight down to where the lug holes are, the part of the wheel that touches the hub/rotor. That measurement is your backspacing. If its 3.75" on your existing wheel, and you go to a 4.5" backspaced wheel, then you need to see where the new wheel could hit. Usually the steering arm/tie rod.

If you still don't understand backspacing, just Bing/Google "wheel backspacing explained".

 

From a little searching, finding 4crawlers link, he says stock wheel backspacing is 4-3/4". So the Mickeys with 4.4???" backspacing would just stick out of the wheelwell a bit, making it have a wider track.

If your worried about it and this thread doesn't deliver what you need, purchase them from a local wheel center. I always test fit custom wheels without the tire on first, then with a tire on. Ask them if you can see it. Keep in mind once the tires mounted, it's yours.

 

Looking for a set to test fit....all the mickeys round here are 5 lug

I was hoping someone had mickeys on there yota...but all i see is the 3rd gen? runners with them....hmmmm any guys like me with these?

I was trying to be blunt so it took all the speculation out of the equation. I guess you need it spelled out for you...

Stock 86-95 BS is 4.75 - Those are 4.4. They will stick out a little more. If they were >4.75 then you would get into rubbing the suspension.

Stock Hub diamater is 108mm. - Those are 107.95 There about equal.

Stock hub pattern is 6X5.5 which those are.

So yes, those will fit. Period.
