wheel backspacing & width for a 81.

Hey all,

I have a 81 p/u 4x4. I got some 33x12.5x15 maxxis bighorns. I have 3 questions:

1: How much backspacing do i need to keep the tires from rubbing (i have stock axles)

2: For the 33x12.5 tire would it be best to go with a 15x8 or 15x10 wheel?

3: Sorry for my lack of knowledge but am I correct in thinking the 81 bolt pattern is 6x5.5?

Thanks, Dan.

That's a good question actually on backspacing, I think your right on the lug pattern it's the same as the six lug Chevys. I run 31x10.50's on my stock 82 if yours is lifted you should have no problem clearing 33s I would think

Stock is 3-3/8", 3-3/4" is about the most you can run and keep the tires off the springs and from the steering parts hitting the rim:

15x8 is quite popular, best for off-road use.
