what size tires for stock 2001 4runner sport

So I have a 2001 4runner sr5 sport. Its literally the exact same thing as the limited just with the hood scoop. I don't have a lift its all stock with no sagging. What would be the best off road/ all terrain tire, and size should I put on it? It has p265 75 r16 tires on it now which is 31 inches tall. I want bigger or wider if possible.

That's....about it. You should be getting frame rub at full lock as it is. Upper a-arms are the next thing you'll bump. For grins we attempted to stick a 285/75/16 on the 99 (taller than your 01), no fitty. If you're not going up or out you're prolly about as good as you want. As for best tire, what are you planning to do with it terrain wise?

Its the stock tire size. It doesn't scrub but its close. Me and my buddies trail ride a good bit and my tires aren't good for that. I don't need anything serious like M/T but a good all terrain or something between an allterrain or mud terrain. Hoping for something affordable but if not oh welk .

Not P265/70r16? I've got 265/75r16 on the 99, but they aren't stock size, at least for the 96-99 4Runners.

Yes then, 265/70r16. You did say 31's but I chose to pay attention to the actual size. 265/75r16 are close to 32". That's your tire with an extra 1/2" all around the outside, width being the same.

Trails...mud, clay, dirt, rock...? What do you have now? What do you wish they'd do better?

I run 235/85 BFG's on my 4runner. Love them.

They are also alot cheaper than other options.

265/70 is about a 31x10.5.
235/85 is about a 32x9.5

Narrower tires tend to fit better with less clearance issues and with less rotating mass to help with mileage.

For a decent lasting tire that performs well for a casual/weekend warrior, Michelin ltx a/t 2

Well I was down a trail today that had some surface mud. No ruts or anything and I went to turn around on a hill and I kept loosing traction but I finally worked my way up. So I want something that will get me out of those situations but also good on trails and in dirt and stuff. Rough country just came out with a bang in 3" suspension lift that will allow 285 75 r16 so rough country says which is a 33.1" tall tire and 11.3 wide. Solo Idk

For a quality ride I try to stay away from "rough" country

I mean I kinda like rough country. One of my friends has a 4" on a jeep xj and another has a 6" on a Chevy 1500 and its not to bad for the price you pay. And the lift for my 4runnee is only 260 dollars. I'm not to hard to please with it but eventually when I get another truck ill go all out with the OME stuff. What would you recommend though?

Rough country isn't bad for an affordable lift and it gets the job done. I like OME, and some of the pro comp lifts
