I want to get a 31x10.50 set, but they're so damned expensive. The best deal I can get locally is $850 cdn out the door. And that's from a guy i know that owns a tire shop. tirerack.com has them for $123 usd each which is an awesome deal, but factor in the tax, shipping and mounting and balancing from a local shop and its about on par with what i can get from my buddy.

575$ for 265/70/16 out the door but in a small town 3000 miles away in SC. At a independent store that was a $100 less than the Firestone dealer. Are the 31's about the same size as the 285's?

285/75r15 is roughly the same as a 32x11.5r15. The local bridgestone/firestone dealer here wants over $1000 cdn.
