Trying to decide on tires, need pic please

I'm trying to decide which tires I want, BFG KO or Revos. From research, both are good tires and will suit me fine for what I will need. Now I am just wondering what they would look like mounted up. No one in my small town carries either tire on hand so having them mounted to see is out. I have a '93 pickup and am hoping some members have either of these tires on their rigs and can post up some pics. Thanks to everyone for your help!

Since you're not getting any responses, maybe try Google's image search. It might not show you the tires on your exact vehicle, but they will show the tires on other similar rigs.

Thanks for the replies. I check out www.offroaders.com a lot just to see how tires are performing after a few miles, it is a great site. Those new tires look great on your 4runner emptypockets! I will go see if google image search has anything. Again, thanks.

Actually I have started looking at the Toyo's again. I had them when they very 1st came out on my Chevy HD, they looked good but not great on the truck. Performance wise I never really got to test them out except in some snow on the streets(boring). I do need a tire that can handle some off-roading. Nothing major but here in Nebraska I hunt in the sandhills and the winters can get pretty nasty once in awile.

On another note, I am on the fence between which size to run, 30/9.50/15 or 31/10.50/15, I can't decide. What are the pros and cons to each size?

Honestly for your hunting machine...Im going to suggest BFG AT KO's
Cant beat the 3 ply sidewall, Name brand, And they look pretty great..
Keep in mind, I have heard they are not the best in deep mud, And while I havent had a good chance to bog em, They do great in the rain sand and in the mountains...
These are 31 10.5..Great size...

On the Truck

I driven on my Nittos for the last 4 years and have had them off road quite a bit over that time and will be getting my 2nd set come spring and should be able to get them for $750 out the door at Discount.

I've had both. IMO, your needs will fall under one or the other, not both. If you do mostly on-road driving and will do minimal off-road duties, REVO's win hands down. They have great on-road handling and ride comfort, and do better in the rain.

BFG's will be better if your priority is a better off-road tire. They have better off-road performance and are designed to be aired-down. They do suffer a bit on the on-road performance, but I daily drive on mine and do just fine.

Looks wise, they're just like any other A/T tire. From 5 ft back, you can't tell any difference. It's not like they're like MT's with gnarly knobs.

Also, in my experience, Nitto's weren't that great in the snow. They felt really unstable compared to the REVO's and the BFG's. And they also didn't feel great in the rain, either (like the BFG's).

Hey Scuba do the 31's kill the MPG? I have the V6 and would like to keep decsent mileage.

X-AWDriver, the Nittos look great on your 'runner, I really like the Terra Grapplers but I want to stick with 15" wheels and they don't make them for that size. I have been thinking about putting a set on my wife's Yukon though.

I would really like to get the BFG MT KMs, not the KM2s. If I did get them it would be in the 30"s though because of $$$.

Honestly I got 22.75 mpg on a 277 mile trip..
Ive never actually taken calculations with my city driving though, So I couldnt tell yo..
What gears came stock in your truck..?
4.56's IIRC, if so you should be fine with 31's...
I get ok mileage though, if i had to gusee i would say 18-20 city, i drive alot of city, and some highway...

I haven't run BFG's on my Yota yet. But i just got a set on my Bro's Runner. He likes them a lot. We have run the BFG pretty exclusively on my step-father's Dodge Diesel and have been VERY Happy with them!!! I just ordered a set of 30x9.50r15's for my XJ Daily Driver. But they haven't come in yet.

Personally, I think they are a great A/T. They do awsome on the road.

The only real issue I have had with them is that they do PLUG UP with Mud if your in anything sticky. Which seems to be all that we have around Sacramento! lol

Good Luck!! Post pics after you get whatever you choose mounted. : )

Clark20: I had 31x10.50's on my '85 with a 22R and it ran Great!! But they looked funky once I lifted the truck. Now I'm running 33x12's and I REALLY NEED to Re-gear! lol

I'm really leaning towards 31"s now! I think the biggest thing people don't understand about getting bigger tires is that the MPG has the most to do with how you drive. Now, there can be overkill on tires that it wouldn't make any difference how you drove the mileage would suck, but going up a size or two shouldn't have that big of an impact, IMO. On previouse vehicles I have ran bigger tires and gotten better MPG but my driving style had to be tweaked a little. I didn't think the 31s would be that different but I am unfamiliar with my rig right now.

I'll have to see if I can find out what gears it has.

????

If your driving style stays the same (no matter if it's aggressive or conservative), bigger tires will certainly be the main factor in making a difference in MPG's. I drive very conservative and got ~21MPG (80-90% highway). After going with 32's, it dropped about 1MPG. And that's with 235/85/16's. Had I gone with 265/75's, I would've seen ~2MPG drop.

Point is, it doesn't matter what my driving style is, because that's a constant. The only variable is the wheel size and weight, which is what affects the MPG's.

Depending upon the vehicle. A slightly larger tire size can be advantageous when doing a lot of highway driving. But Yes, it can also be deteramental. If you go with a large enough tire, you can effectively gear yourself to high. Also, changing the width of the tire has a direct influence on mileage. By going wider, you now have to push a wider "wall" down the road. This is also true about taller tires, but a taller tire is more contained within the wheel well, while a wider tire is more exposed.

This is more along the lines of what I was trying to say.

If and when I get the 31s, if I drive like I do now(aggressive) I will probably see a significant drop in MPGs. But, if I start to drive more conservatively my mileage shouldn't change much.

33x9.5 BFG's. They fit stock (no lift needed, only have to take off inner fender cover, and flatten pinch weld, does not change the cosmetic look of the truck in any way). Also, with a narrower aspect, they have less wind resistance, which will help mileage. I'm regeared and see 25 HWY, 21 City.

I'm guessing you meant "rolling resistance", as the actual wind resistance difference between a 9.5" and 10+" will be close to zero.
