Tires
#1
All:
I own a 1993 Toyota 4x4 pickup. I was in a surf fishing tournament in Buxton NC this past weekend. As I pulled out of the beach my tire went flat. Long story short, the truck has 35x12.50 BFG Mud-Terrain tires. The new tire is a BFG All-Terrain tire, same size. The other three Mud-Terrains are still in great condition with 50% tread on them. I am trying to save some money by not replacing the other three tires with BFG All Terrains. Should I replace it with a Mud Terrain so all the tires match or buy three All-Terrains which I am trying to avoid. Also will it harm the truck having a new tire and the others at 50% tread. Thanks

You don't want to run different size or type tires on the same axle if at all possible. If you have a LS diff this will work it harder. Also, it will affect the other tires causing them to wear more quickly. If it was me, I would buy two tires at a time, that way it doesn't hurt as much and you don't have the wear and drive problems.
