Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I'm new.

I just picked up my new rig for $1,500. Im moving to Tahoe this winter so its about time to get some new tires. She's all stock. no lift. A lot of people have told me that 33's would rub, but I think if I got some 8inch wide wheels with 33 inch tires I'd be alright. If not I think im gunna go with 10.5" wide wheels with some 31's. I just want some Gnarly tires with out have to chop or lift...
opinions?

 

I run 31" or 33" tires. I have 4:88 gears so I can do either. I use to run Armstrong Norseman Radials and they were the best tires I ever owned; great mileage, quiet on the highway, great in sand or mud. The closest tire I have found to them are Dick Cepek Fun Country II Radials. If you have stock gears then run 31" so you do not have to down shift so much.

 

Hah you dont NEED the gearing to run both. I run 36's on a 3.90 ring and pinion it can be a pita but it works alright. I can run 4th anywhere and reach 75 miles per hour with a stock 22r

I would just go for the 33's your only rub should just be on the pinch weld where the floor of the cab and the side meet together, you can just fold it over with a sledge hammer or cut it off which ever you like

 

DO NOT run 10 inch wheels on a 10.5 inch tire. It will stretch the bead out way too far. Instead run an 8 inch wide wheel. Also, 33's will NOT fit without modfications. You would be lucky to fit a 32x11.50 without rubbing. Your best bet would be a 31x10.50 on an 8 inch wheel.

 

Id go with 32x11.50, that'll be a good in between size that most likely won't rub

 

If you are just going to drive it on the street go with the 31s.
If you are going to take it offroad I would get the 33s. If they don't clear add a leaf into your spring pack, it is easy and cheap to do. With 33s you will probably have to trim the pinch weld even with a lift. Also for offroad I would recommend a mud tire, I really like my mtrs.

 

Try 33x10.50 on an 8" rim. If it rubs just use a BFH and beat the pinch weld and anything else.

31x10.50 are easier to find and as said above do not run a 10" rim on a 10.5". Its your choice.
