15" would have been the goto choice 10-15 years ago but the tire companies aren't making many options in a 15"
They have been migrating to 17" - now tons of options.

How come you aren't considering a 16"?

I liked the idea of 17" rim when airing down maintaining axle clearance though more potential for popping a bead. But being as the price of 17" tires is so much more than 15" I stayed 15". Yep, price was final influence. I don't see the tire manufacturers getting rid of 15" tires in the popular sizes anytime soon.

15" is perfect. Maybe a 16", but I personally don't like the look of 17"+ wheels, nor the price point of the tires. Only reason bigger wheels are common is everybody likes their mud truck to still look thug, and safety. Shorter sidewall, less tire roll=more safer for dumdums. Go 15, plenty of options up to, like, 38-39" tires. 16s, too.
