Question about Tire Rack & Road Force Balancing?

For those of you who have recently put on tires, is road force balancing really worth it? I just shelled out a ton of cash for 60k service on my Honda and now another ton of cash for the ‘runners 30k with a trans flush and switch to synthetics (mobil1 all around). Anyway, they found a nail (or did they put it there) in one of the stock tires. Really didn’t want to buy another crappy tire so it is time to buy some Revos. The best pricing so far is $139.99 mounted, balance, and lifetime rotation. However, this is at Tires Plus who don’t have the road force balancer. The only place I can find a road force balancer is the dealer or a tire rack installer. I think the difference would be about $40+ for Tire rack deal. The other issue is what do you do if tire rack sends you a crappy tire?

Any thoughts on the importance of road force balance or buying from Tire Rack?

Checking road force variation can make a huge difference in the way a vehicle rides. The tires on my truck when I bought it were well worn, but I had the RFV done on them (brother works at dealer), nominal change in ride. Got a set of used 31x10.5x15 michelins (brother again) mounted them up; RFV one tire had 37lbs RFV, followed instructions on indexing tire/rim RFV 9lbs. Couldn't belive it was the same truck when I drove it home. I don't know tire racks policy on tires but I'd drop em a line and find out HTH.

partszar - thanks for the response. Surprised I didn't get any more responses. Maybe I should have had the subject title Revos in a blink tag

Anyway, the local firestone dealership is working great deals and I couldn't pass up there price and the fact that they can get me a set of 4 for Monday. If they feel out of whack or have too much weight on the rims I will take them to get balanced at a shop with a road force balancer.

thanks again

The road force balancing does make a huge difference in the ride quality. However, they are not all the same. You need to find a local service center or dealer that has the Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancer. It's awesome. It will really improve the ride. I've had mine balanced a couple of times at the dealer and they do not have the Hunter machine. It is a noticeable difference. Some places charge more than others for balancing with the Hunter machine. There are a couple of places here in B'ham that charge upwards of $70 to balance with the Hunter machine but there is a little Ma and Pa tire shop next to the plant that I work at that has one. They only charge me $20 for a balance with the Hunter machine. I believe the website is GSP9700.com There you can find a locator that will find the shops in your area that has it. Later.
