Nitto TerraGrappler vs. Kuhmo Road Venture AT
I'm having a hard time deciding. I have Nitto's now so I see what they have to offer. I can get the Kuhmo's in 285's for $118 each. The Nitto's in that size are $133 each. What do you guys think? The Road Venture's seem to be good, but I need to know how long they tend to last. Thanks.

if they are the new style ones, which i assume they are, they a pretty good tires. my uncle has them on his 03 Z71, and they ride quiet and are good off-road for an a/t tire...

kumhos kl78's at's have very good ratings according to below. i think they are the best bang for the buck. usually you get anywhere from 40-55k miles assuming you rotate frequently and less agreesive driving style. those are my next tires. i should be getting them come xmas. i am going for the 265/70/16's which is a step up from my current 245/75/16's.. they come in different plys so research which one would be best for you

i want the 265/75's but i have heard they will rub on an 02 tacoma in full flex. plus to me they would look funny on it but some people swear by it.. ill prob just get the 265/70's so they wont rub any at all..

Clearly Kuhmo is a serious player. They probably provide the best price/performance on the market... based on my reading.
I came within a nat's behind of switching.. the last time I needed tires. But the dealer had my tire in stock... revo's... they are hard to beat, but they are pricey.

I run the Kuhmo Kl78's (Road Vanture A/T) in a 265/75/16 on my 04 Taco, I cant say enough about these things. Good street manners, good off road for an A/T tire (especially when aired down), no sidewall issues.
For the price, I simply dont beleive you can beat thier performance.

Good info. I'm in same boat trying to decide between these models. Anyone found the Kuhmo brand tires locally at tire shops, or do you have to order them mail order?
I'd be curious on mileage totals too!
Thanks!

yeah, they'll rub on some of the plastic of the fender-well at full-lock and full-flex, as mine did on my 4runner when they were brand new...but about 5000 miles later, it's as if they had wore just enough not to rub that part of the plastic...

if i am not mistaken the 4runners sit up a little hight than the tacomas.. i could be wrong though.. anyone have pics of their 265/75/16's on their factory tacos?? i know Rocko has pics but he hasnt sent them to me yet :-)

yeah, you might be true there, thus resulting in less rubbing...but hey, the rubbing all the more reason to get a lift, right?

Nittos hands down in my book. Great tire for the price
Got a set of 4 tires, out the door with free shipping, @ a total price of $454. I ordered them on a Wednesday and had them at my door that following Friday. I've only clocked 5K miles on them thus far, but have really been impressed with them on and off road.
