I used to run 31x10.50's BFG MT's on my old ride and they held up for 35K, mostly highway and around town, some off roading. I currently run 285/75/16 Mud Kings and they are fairly quiet and are awesome off-road. Little bit of hum on the highway is a good thing!

Yeah, I miss my 12 sec. grocery getter, too. And my 11 sec. one! I did some R&R from Iraq in Qatar in 2004. It was an airbase, but I can't remember the name. Good luck with the z06, that's a completely different beast than the STi; in a good way .

not trying to jack thread, but I am curious if 265/75/16 will fit on a 99 stock 4runner limited? what is the largest diameter you can put on one without clearance issues?

265/75/16 will fit just fine. It is the largest tire you'll be able to fit on a stock 4runner.

I will never use anything else for my truck. mud tires are the way to go, they look good, you always have the option to go off road.

Is anyone running 285/75/16's on stock wheels without spacers and with stock upper A-arms? Any rubbing on the upper A-arm at full droop?

You don't need full droop to be rubbing. You will rub regardless.

i have ran 3 different tires all 35" on my chevy 2500HD and by far the best was toyo open country mud terrains. i started with pro-comp mud terrains, went to toyo's, then back to pro-comp xterrains for a change. i had 25K on the pro-comp MT's, got 40K out of the toyos, and currently have around 25K on the pro-comp xterrains. the toyos wore more unevenly, but were much quieter on the street.

Someone enlighten me on why MT's are being suggested for a daily driver. It's like some people from the sports car crowd I used to run with that had r-comps or close to, for their daily driver. Worn out in less than 10k miles, not to mention unsafe for anything but warm, dry weather. I see the same for MT's. Way overkill for the streets and waste of money, IMO.

I've had 255/85/16 BFG MT's on my truck now for a little over 55,000km and they are holding up just fine. Absolutley no handling issues, work great in the snow, not a lot of road noise...none of the things I was warned about before I got them. My only complaint is they will hydroplane if I hit standing water on the highway. That's it. I love 'em, and will be replacing them when they wear out...which will still be quite a while.
