Mud Terrain Tires?

BFG M/T's are a lil less than $158 a piece (4WP...31"10.50's) Swamper TSL's are $135 a piece (4WP..same size...) the swamper LTB's are $117 (4WP...31x11.50's)..but the LTB's wear out way faster on the road..(supposedly)..so..idk..unless im miss something...that means that SUPER SWAMPERS are CHEAPER! than BFG M/T's...although the BFG's will last longer...i have heard of people gettin upwards of 40,000 miles out of TSL's...(not the TSL radials either)

How bout Firestone's Destination M/Ts. Not terribly expensive depending are where you get em from; I found them the cheapest on tirerack.com. I've heard good reviews and have seen them pull trucks out of holes that I didn't think it would get out of. I'm thinking seriously about getting a set of 31 10.5 for my 91 PU.

BFG Muds are a great tire for a Toyota. They do last a long time on a light truck. Swampers aren't really that expensive, in fact you can get a 32x10.5 r15 TSL radial for just as much as a 31x10.5 BFG mud, and the radial swamper will last a while. The thing about a more agressive tire is the lugs are larger and once they get closer to bald they will suddenly be a lot less agressive than an equally bald all terrain because they have no siping, and lose grip once the lugs are worn down. That is only my opinion but anyone that has burnt more than 5 sets of BFG all terrains, a set of BFG muds, and several swamper sets will probably agree.

i agree 100%. only bald tire ive ever seen do well was a bagged bogger.

but if your doing light wheeling then u dont need a swamper. and bfg's proly last a lil longer. so id go with a bfg. or a wildcat m/t there realy cheap and last forever, and have simalar tread.

If I was going with a 31" I'd probably opt for the BFG. If I was going 33x12.50 or larger, I'd go with Interco all the way...

The biggest reason I went with the Iroks on mine was they had the look I wanted. I did pay the extra for the radial which was a very smart move. They ride great on the street, and pull harder than any tire I've ever owned on every off road terrain I've taken them on. I've been in very thick mud and been completely confident with the truck. These tires rock...

I drove right out of this and backed up into it, and drove out again...





In my opinion, Swampers look a little funny in anything less than 33x12.50, but that's just me. They're a hard pulling tire and cheap enough to replace when you wear them out. I have about 10k on mine so far and they still look great and have plenty of tread on them. The ride has gotten a little rougher but that's to be expected when you run this aggressive -- and cheap -- of a tire. Doesn't bug me one little bit.
