MTRs won't balance

I got my new tires and rims about 3 weeks ago. BFG MTs 265/75 16s on 16x8 rims. I immediately noticed vibrating in the steering wheel. Well I've had them back there twice now and they still can't get it right. They keep using those stick on the inside of the rims weights. The manager said he'd go back to BFG if it came to it. Any suggestions on what to do?
I have put on a spacer lift and had my alignment done since the tires were put on. That didn't seem to do anything good or bad to the vibrations.

Do a search on MT/R's. Some come defective from Goodyear and won't balance. I know a couple members on here have had that happen to them aswell. I believe they got them replaced free of charge. That really sucks because they are expensive tires.

When you say new rims, you mean aftermarkets right? Cause if they are oem's then they cant be balanced without the haweka adapter.

Either the tires have heavy spots in them, are horribly out of round, or the wheels are.

Sorry for the misleading title, They are BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. And the rims are aftermarkets Victory Haulers.

I had the same problem and took them to four different discount tire places, one Big O, had the front end aligned, and finally took them to Desert Rat where they were able to get them balanced properly. The tires/wheels will balance, you just need to find the right guy at the right store. Not everyone knows how to properly balance the big tires.

Ok that clears up the issues of the wheels being the problem.

They need the right tire balancer, one that can apply load to the tire. This could clear up the problems.

Your also sure the wheels are made for trucks? Some wheels just arent made to work with trucks/suv's. That or the signs on the american racing rims I saw today (on the package) at pepboys lied.

If you are going to discount tire have them do a "Road Force" on them, It will actually simulate them on the road and put pressure on the tire while spinning and tell you if the tire's are out of round. And that same procedure will also tell you if your wheels are out of round as well. Sometimes Tires and Wheels will come from the factory with little defects that will not allow them to balance out properly.

Yeah, the manager said they would do a "road force" balance but he was off on saturday and I couldn't remember what it was called. He's off until Thursday so I'll wait until then.

Thanks. A wealth of info on that site. The Discount i've been going to has a road force machine. I wonder why they haven't used it yet?

What you need is to get some of those downrigger 8 pound cannon balls and weld them to one side of your rim to help balance it. That'll do the trick.

Go to www.gsp9700.com and find a Hunter road force balancer near you. My local Discount Tire has one.

ya I worked at discount tire for about 2 yrs. and not everyone knows how to use the road force machine. make sure you have either the manager or find an employee that is confident in doing it, because if they dont know what they are doing they can make it worse or not help at all.

I had the same issue with some 35" Dunlaps.
Turns out that one of my *brand new* wheels from 4 wheel parts was defective. One of the 35"s was out of round also.
It took me 5 trips to NTB and talking to a regional manager to get it resolved.
