MT/R's are not a mud tire. They are a rockcrawling tire.

BFG makes a mud tire and a rock crawling tire.

True, but around here, mud (ie red clay, and thick sloppy, bottomless crap) is normal in between rock outcroppings. Wheeling out west last summer, I was amazed at the utter lack of " real " mud that you guys have.

Tellico, Paragon, hell, even Uhwarrie all have some nasty mud... and we (here in the east ) need a tire that self-cleans at low speeds AND does well on rocks...

MT/R's are GREAT if they're a 40"... I've seen them self-clean really well... but for a 36 or 37, my $$$ is on an Interco tire or a Krawler... preferrably the IROK's, since the price is so attractive. Can't go wrong w/ TSL SX's tho...

But, we're mixing ideas here... Interco's tires for the most part are NOT highway friendly... For my rig (HEAVY ASS 80 series) MT/R's don't cut it (esp. w/ the mud we encounter) unless they're of the 40" variety with that nice big lug void.

The original thread starter was asking about MT's vs. MT/R's...

MT/R's it is... better grip on rocks, stronger sidewall, better looks. (not that the last one matters)
