Michellin warranty

Michellin warranty
Last week I took the truck to Discount Tire to check a tire that was low. Upon inspection, the guy noticed small cracks forming on the sides and in between the tread. I knew they were forming, but I'm thinking "Aw @*$#, I don't need this expense right now!" These tires are $157 a piece...worth it...LOVE them. Still...$$$.
He says he'll check with his manager as they still might be under Michellins warranty against ozone damage. Without these cracks, I'd have definately driven another 7500-10k miles on them.
Manager invites me inside and checks the warranty against the dates on the tires and says "Looks like you're getting four tires for free."

I just covered the installation, hazard costs, fees, etc. $167 out the door!
Its really great when a company stands behind their product and makes the process this simply. No jumping through hoops of fire only to find out in the end...in the small print...that there is something that disqualifies you.
These are the LTX M/S 31x10.5's. I drive mostly on the street so these suit me fine. I've driven in the snow with them and they worked well (used 4WD). They did slide around a bit in some mud, but this was slick clay type mud on backroads in Oklahoma.
I guess I'm making this post in praise of Michellin, Discount Tire, and this particular model of tire and would recommend these choices if "the shoe fits".

We had a guy drive in to our MO shop with 2 blown Michelins on his 4 horse trailer. He'd also stopped at a Kansas shop earlier with another blown tire. Turns out, he lived in CO and bought the trailer off a guy there, then drove the horse-laden thing hundreds of miles on nearly 15 year old tires that had been sitting in a field for years before he bought it!!! He didn't realize they were that old but really, they were in bad shape. I called it in and Michelin was aware of the entire story, replaced them for FREE just as they did the one he got in KS!!!

check the dates of the tires that you want to buy. private sellers try to sell really old tires. even shops sell like 5 year old tires without knowing. i personally will never use a tire over 5 years old.
