For what they are i suppose they are good tires, but I got into a hairy situation the other night and the tires balled up and were pretty much slicks. A solid coat of mud all the way across. That's why I am purchasing new tires soon.

 

Ya...they are not a good mud tire! But good at most everything else, and light mud.

 

Buy some swamper TSL's if you want something for heavy mud. Hell on the highway, but great in mud. Air em down to 10psi and watch the chunks fly!

if you want to stick with an a/t type tire, look at the cooper s/t and s/t-c, i had bfg a/t's and loved'em accept in mud, now i have the s/t-c's and they do great in mud, but don't have the treadlife that the bfg's do.

 

As far as AT's go,they are one of the best. I've had them on my 4Runner before and run them currently on my Jeep GC. Definitely NOT a mud tire. They load up quick.

 

BFG TA's rock out here in the desert... course, we don't see much mud...

I love my A/T's but went mudding and man was I everywhere....

After these go I am going for the BFG Mud Terrains
The next step up before I can fit anything else under there...

 

the tiny bit of mud we saw yesterday loaded up my at's pretty fast. but, as stated before me, they are awesome everywhere else. this is why bfg makes a mud terrain!!!

 

Airing down will help a lot - allows the tread to flex and push it out.

IMHO, it's kinda silly to replace perfectly good tires (especially ones that are better suited to the vast majority of your driving!)

Note: my biasply TSL's cost about 2MPG to run - gas money adds up FAST these days!

 

x2 My ATs are great on the highway and sand. They aren't made for mud thats why BFG offers the MT.

 

On a good day... they really wernt as good a tire as I hoped... i like my radials better.. and HATE mud.. besides that a 22RE doesnt have the power to spin 33 tsl's in the mud...

 

I like my BFG MT's a lot....the only place I don't like having a MT tire is the sand.

 

In soupy stuff they are alright, but whenever it gets worse like a whole day and night of rain in a field, they are useless. I have looked at the Mud Terrains when I bought these, perhaps i should have reconsidered.

 

This thread has made me consider geting another set of rims and throwing on Mud-Terrians and use those only when I go off the road and keep the A/T's as an on road tire...

I love my A/T's, the best tire i have ever driven on...
Better than the Rugged-trail...
And better then stepdads Goodyears....

 

I think I might be doing the same thing shortly. Perhaps a little more serious than mud terrains though.

 

I can only afford Mud-terrians if i was going to go for a mud tire...
Plus I just really tust BFG... def got me out of some sticky or dangerous situations....
Dukes of Hazard driving is really scary in a loaded 4Runner (granted that type of driving wasn't intentional...)

 

I think that I might get swamper tsl boggers or something similiar. Just need a little more bite than what i have now

 

I trust BFG as well.. Have a great experience with many different types of their tires. I like my ATs as well and will go with them again when I step up to 33s. Do you think BFG will give me a discount this time around?:

 

LTBs are a bunch cheaper then BFG MTs and ill bet they will get you out of ALOT worse. Just my 2cent. I plan on running a set of BFG ATs and a set of LTBs. BFGs are a good tire on road and the LTBs are just plain nasty. The price aint bad either!
