you should considering the KM2 33x10.5R15. I bought a used set with about 60% tread left. I have put about 15k miles on them since then and they are probably at 10% now, but I figure I'd get at least 30k out of a new set. That's with a locked diff and I drive 90% mountain roads and I DO NOT take it easy. If I were a less aggressive driver/doing more highway I could easily see getting 40k out of a set.

I can't comment if you swap your tires for a different size, but if you decide to keep the 33x12.5x15s, then get some 15x8-3.75 or 3.5" backspace wheels. that's what size I run on my truck (the 3.75") with 33x12.5 Toyo's. Wheels stick out right around where you're asking. I have about 3/8" between sidewall and UCA.

Why do you want to get rid of the 33/12.5s? Personally I love mine

what's your mpg now? what might really help is lowering your truck if it's still got the 6" lift. i can't imagine how much wind it catches that high as mine already catches a lot of wind with only around 2" lift. i don't know physics that well, but i would guess that just changing the contact patch of your tires isn't going to make a significant change for your MPGs. you might gain acceleration because they'll be lighter. obviously driving style also has a lot to do with mpg's as well.

i get around 15-18mpg with 22re/5spd/4.88s/HEAVY 33x12.5 Toyos/2" lift.

i think that's about average mpg for a 3.0 truck.

fairly certain that's the spec of wheel you will want if going with an 8" wide, and it gives you options vs being stuck with limited width tire. 3.75-3.5" is about the BS you need in order to keep distance between sidewall and UCA with large 12.5" tires. i'm pretty sure a 33x10.5 will fit on stock 15x7-4.75bs wheels without rubbing as well - that's why so many people run that size BFGs.

Going from a 33x12.5 to a 33x10.5 is going to make NO noticable difference in your mileage.
