I'd recommend the treadwirghts in 285/75/16 if you can find some inexpensive 16" wheels. Probably need to go with the Guard Dogs. I have a set and they are pretty quiet on the street (haven't wheeled them much yet). I do know for a fact that treadwrights wear like iron and last a long time. My first set (smaller tires) lasted upwards of 40K miles if my memory is correct and I beat the mess out of them.
For the money you can probably pick up a set of used wheels, clean them up a bit, and get the tires mounted for less than you'd pay for new BFG's or something similar.

well i need to find some 16s first and im not having any luck i think im just gonna stay with bfg all terrains i was just wondering wat mud tire last the longest on street the mtrs with kevlar are pretty hard any one try these

honestly my brother found a tire at pepboys its a knockoff of another tire. they are called the definity dakota m/t they are cheap and great in the mud/snow when my brother had them on his 4runner he was making it through everywhere my truck was on bfg km2's and i beleive he got around 50-60k miles out of them granted they were pretty worn but still usable just not offroad with any good traction

the hankook are also good on rocks too and pretty quiet for a mud tire. you should get a set or just wait till mines wears down some more then ill sale it to you haha o yea they just broke into the 3,000 mile so it might take a while hahaha

I've always been a fan of Firestone Destination AT's...... Good in the snow and rain for the street, Deep tread, do well for the casual off road.. last forever.... wear like a pigs nose.... Rated for 50,000 miles ..... just don't drive it like you stole it....lol

lol. I thought you knew better. I picked up a set of 2 year old never seen pavement Mastercraft M/T's for $400 including a 5th A/T for a spare with about the same amount of tread left. Not the best out there but for $400 for almost 90% tread and a few chunks taken out of the lugs with no weather cracking nor sidewall rock rash, I couldn't go wrong. I like mine in the snow. It's not that aggressive of a lug pattern to act like skies like most other dedicated mud tire.
Depends on what type of mud he's talking about. Thin light mud or thick heavy mud. Because almost anything other then Swamper Boggers is gonna be junk in heavy mud. But I wanna say Boggers don't do well in snow, but I could be wrong.
Most good mud tires don't do well in snow because they don't clear out and wind up acting like skies. You have to keep your tire speed up for them to do well. But tire speed is not a safe thing to do on pavement. In your back lot is one thing but on the street is another.
BFG KM2's should do well in both. I don't see IROK's being that great in snow unless you have them siped more then they are.

I currently own both the BFG KM2's (31x10.5) and the Mastercraft Courser M/T's (33x12.5) and I have to say I like them both but I like the KM2's a little more haha

i got some bfg knockoff's, they are ADVENTURO M/T. I paid $550.00 mount and bal. I have put a few thousand miles on them and you can still feel the little nipples on the nobbies. i am very happy with them.

i know this thread is dead, but ive gotta chime in. Best mud tire (except swamper boggers of course) is the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder. I cant hardly get them to spin in slick mud, they just keep pulling.

For what the OP was wanting, I think the new(ish) Duratracs would be his/her best choice. Very aggressive AT, not quite an MT. Supposedly an all around performer & not too expensive if you shop around. I had thought about a set, but want to go a little more extreme. The side lugs do look menacing though.
A tire I have personal experience with & loved for DD/offroad was the Interco STS. They flatout performed in snow & were pretty good at climbing. Since they are an AT tire they aren't that great in mud, but no AT will compare to a dedicated MT tire.

well ill tell you what not to get and thats a Deestone Mud Clawer. Went to tire store and saw them and they look like a knock off KM1.....well its by far the loudest thing known to man. My friends call my 4runner "the airplane" cause it sounds like your in a plane. just my 2 cents. If it was me i would definitely go with Nitto Trail Grapplers.
