I saw a truck Duratracs today and they were quite a soft tread compound. They should do well in the cold. Not quite as soft as Trxxus MTs so they might wear alright. If only they sold this tire in a 33x10.5r15...

Nitto is coming out with a new tire this fall called the Trail Grappler M/T. They do have some siping and have the larger lugs and sidewall tread you might be looking for. It looks like the sizes will be limited at first, but will expand as time goes on. Pretty sweet looking tire IMO. Here's a link: http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire.trailgrappler

I've ordered some Duratracs in 285/75R16. They seem like the perfect tire for my needs which includes a lot of winter mountain driving in mixed compact snow and deeps snow. The Trxus MT was tempting, but their wear seems excessive.

Only one size planned for 16" wheels.

The siping on the Nittos is pretty minimal compared to the Duratracs.

I wonder what Nitto is thinking? The 285/70 isn't the first size of 16" tire I'd come out with.

Almost non existent actually. I'm seeing more and more guys around here running the Dura's. People I talk to love them and they look pretty aggressive for an AT/MT hybrid. Maybe I just talked myself into a set?

I run bridgestone winter duelers on my runner in the winter. no back country trekking. more driving up the snowy icey road to camp at the ski mountian for the weekend. i love them. With my open diffs i usually cruise up (passing people with the other subi's and yota's) in 2wd till i need slower traction and then drop some 4 down. they are about a 32 11.5. full sip and a all terainish cut to the lugs. No lugs sticking out though so i doubt they would be good for winter trail riding. But i can't express how well they grip snowy icey roads

I'll give a +4 on the Duratracs, they are quickly turning into my favorite tire! Did a shuttle for a kayak trip & drove 15 miles of pretty marginal unmaintained forest roads complete with a pair of gnarled-up creek crossings that had flash-flooded the night before, and they held their own in the mud. Nice & quiet on the highway, and I am excited to try them out in the snow!
