4.88's or 5.29's

I have a 4 cyl 87 22r with 35 inch tires. Will 4.88 or 5.29 gear ratio be best? and which would get better gas mileage? Thanks for the input

Better mileage would probably go to the 4.88s but better offroad capabilities would go to 5.29s. I think 4.88s fit best for 33s and 5.29s are anything 35 and up. There's a good axle link somewhere around here I'll find for you.

I would go with the 5.29s for 35" tires, especially if you have an overdrive transmission. The gearing would still be a little too tall with the 4.88s. You might even get better mileage with the 5.29s since the engine doesn't have to work as hard to keep things rolling.
