Tire options on my 98.

I have a 1998 4 runner Deer season is here in a couple weeks Im getting tires this weekend along with some sliders I have decided not to go with 33's because I can't afford a lift right now and I need the new tires for this up coming season. I am still totally confused with the tire calculations but I want to run a good beefy MT that will give me clearance and I can still use when I get my OME front lift a LC coil rear lift. Someone recommended 255,85,r16 and said it's a 33 but I dont see how as im confused about this any help would be appreciated. I was thinking of going with Maxxis bighorn MT's.

255 millimeters is the width. 85 means that the height of the tire from the rim is 85% of the 255 millimeters. the 16 refers to the rim diameter. http://www.bncoffroad.com/ratio/ Go to the very bottom of the page there is a place to punch in whatever the metric size is and it will convert it for you. If you do not know how to covert millimeters into inches just look up a converter online there are hundreds of them. I hope this is helpful.

Also remember that when you take the 85% you have to double it because the rubber comes off the rim on both top and bottom. If that makes sense.

This one is probably a little easier.
You can do the math but as long as you get the basics why not just have it do it for you?

There are a TON of them out there also.
Just Google "tire size conversion".

I remember a member telling me 255,85,r16 would fit just fine with a little hammering and trimming and would look good when I get the lift on wich will be about a month or two after. 255 is pretty thin though but it equates a 33 wich is what I wanted to run but not wide.

Just as a reference 255mm is 10.03937". If you want the exact specification of a particular tire most manufacturers websights will give you their exact dimension.

I think 255,85,r16 is what I will end up going with. Then doing some hammering and what not the 16 at the end is the rim size correct?

A set of (4) 255 Bighorns goes for about $625 shipped on ebay (no tax in most cases). The Coopers kick a$$ though IMO - I want to get some Discoverer STTs next. They're about $150 more than the Bighorns on ebay.

Thing is is it worth it to get them on ebay compared to just getting them at americas tire co. and getting the guarantee? Or where can I find a price for them to match?
