Solar panels

I posted in another thread in this very section a solar panel I had seen in the new Overland Journal Fall issue.

I really do not know much about them, does anyone have any experience with them?

Here is the one from the other thread.

Something like this I could trickle charge the rigs battery to keep it topped off while the battery is fueling the ARB fridge for several days.
The solar panel can also charge laptop and other batteries which would be good if you are using items that will run down their batteries during your trip.

So far this is the only one I have really looked at.
Has anyone used a full sized one like this before?

It looks like a good idea, but it looks like it would get stolen very easily

if i were to get one, i would get the small one and leave it on the dash

This guy has a large one that is keeping his battery charged on his Tentrax trailer for his Koolatron fridge, and he also picked up an Engel fridge as well.

I have a small one I use to keep my batt. charged when I'm not using my truck for a while. Canadian Tire sells a wide variety of them including both models shown above. If you check their website they have a link to a wealth of info on the topic.
as for theft issues you could get a low profile version of the big one and mount it to the roof of your tent no worries about theft then.

Here's the link... they used to have a lot more info maybe it comes out as you go further in through the portal have'nt looked yet. They are promoting all their winter stuff so they may have taken some of it down...
