Most of the suspension topics seam to be about suspensions set up for maximum articulation and travel for going over big rocks and purposefully putting your truck in very difficult handling situations.
I am having a hard time finding information about suspension set ups purpose built for overlanding expeditions. It seams like you would want to go for a middle of the road option. Something with softer suspension and a bit more travel then stock, but not to much to be able to drive safely for distances on roads.
Does anyone have advice for my '86 truck? Is it necessary for me to swap to a solid front axle? Should I stick with the IFS, if so why? It seams like the SAS conversion would make the entire front suspension less complicated and parts may be easier to find in other countries if something broke on a trip.
Maybe a SAS conversion with original ride height? Recommendations on springs and shocks?

Cheers

Also would like more info. I seem to do far more long drives than crawling so ride comfort would be appreciated. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would Old Man Emu be a good choice?

Yeah seams like they have good options for moderate lifts, springs with higher weight capacities, and torsion bars with different rates.
If like to talk to some one with some experience. I might call a local shop and ask some questions.

i'd go with a regular long travel kit from blazeland (a member on YT) or total chaos.

for the back you could go with the chevy 63" spring swap.

Ask Defrag and Ruined Adventures.
They have put the MoreFunner with OME's through more paces, and taken them to more places than any of us could only dream of.
