ha, i already have an account over there. even have this same thread. great info over there.

for the tail lights, that seems like a pretty good idea! i like it. i'll see how the headlight restore kit works, and use the paint if it's still too pink. thanks!

Yeah, I got that paint at AutoZone not 2 years ago, Ian..... worked GREAT, and had very good UV resistance. I spent a whole summer practically in the desert, near a lake.... 100+ Degrees for DAYZ! didn't fade that paint at all. It was just a spray can, it goes on very evenly, and is a sort of colored clear coat? I know, doesn't sound right, ....that's not the naming of it, lol.. but you get my meaning.
CAN'T WAIT to see you on a trip in this! I'm looking for one already, bud!

wait, what paint are you talking about mark? nervo suggested stained-glass paint from a craft store. if there's a rattle can meant for this application, i'm all ears

I'll be watching this one. Currently my lady and I just sleep in the back of the 4runner with the set up I made. I think she'd be happier if we had a little pop up like this one.

little trailers like this are nice. it's a large tent on wheels, basically

today i cleaned up my tail lights. well, in the process, rather. scuffed and buffed 'em this morning, and bought a can of stained-glass spray paint, which will be sprayed on the inside:

so, hopefully by tomorrow afternoon, i'll have some nice looking tail lights. and i'm meeting up with a friend to flip the axle

be real careful about the axle that set up was not designed to work the other way. and your levelers may not work with new height

go take a look at it. if it's all torn up, nah. but if there's just a few straight tears, go for it. i'm going to be sewing mine up the right way, which is also the faa approved way for fabric aircraft. i'm using a lot of faa approved repairs on this thing

already thought about all that stuff, thanks. the axle should sit nicely on the other side, and the stabilizers seem long enough. if not, i can either extend these (pretty easy to do) or get new ones that aren't rusted. i'll post pics, not to worry

Tent trailers are cool
My parents and I took trips way up into Canada with my brothers two trailers he owned when I was young around 16 or so.

Have fun fixing yours up.

This was my beater Sears trailer we got for around $500 back in '82 or so.

Bought a brand new Flagstaff (same as a Jayco) around '89 shortly after getting on with Boeing.

Still miss it, had to sell it after my first layoff.

thanks corey! nice set-up you have!

plan "b" with the tail lights: instead of using stained glass paint, i'm using actual tail light paint. i saw it on the aisle-end, and i think it's turning out better than the other stuff would have

before painting. held up to a 100 watt lamp:

about to be painted:

the paint i'm using. ~$15 at advance auto

almost finished, just need to put another coat on and let them dry:

they're priceless. literally. you can't buy them anymore, which is why i'm "restoring" these. you can buy similarly designed fixtures for a reasonable price (~$50 a pair and down). amazon.com has some of good stuff, along with etrailer.com
