I want to get rid of the body lift on my 1993 Pickup with a Chevy V8. Since I've ditched the IFS for a solid axle, I don't need the Advance Adapter mount adapters anymore.

The plan is to torch off the 22RE pads, use the Advance Adapters weld-in style mounts (for a 79-85 truck), mount the engine 3" lower than it was, and remove the body lift completely.

Anyone know of a reason I shouldn't do this?

 

The Advance Adapters weld-in mounts came in today. With the frame-side mounts in the upright position, the engine will be 3" lower than with the bolt-in mounts (obviously why you can't use them with IFS). With the the frame-side mounts in the inverted position, the engine would be 7" lower.

Gonna be nice having the motor down lower! the lower the better

 

Low is nice for COG, but I chose to mount my engine higher up, in order to tuck the transfer case up high and build a high clearance xmember, and to raise the gas tank to match. Just my $.02

 

Doenst really need to be mounted very high in order to tuck the tranny up.

The 4.3 is definetly not as tall as my old 3.4 was but i left my tranny were it was and was able to keep the motor low aswell.


Only downfall here is driveline angles and it is raising the COG. To compensate some I lowere the stance of the runner and its just about perfect now

 

Looks about as high as mine is. I left enough room in between the body and the trans to allow for movement and ease of trans removal.
