there is also the option of just getting a donor car that runs i found my 89 mustang 5.0 for $1000 it was cheaper than buying engine and trans seperate. then you can use the motor tranny and comp out of it replace oil pan to a rear sump and get a trans to t-case adapter
other things needed are making power steering lings if you have it making motor mounts or using advance adapters ones and switching out radiators

ha, im in someones sig... lucky me... i was more than slightly intoxicated... but oh well... LOL. if u want the easiest, prob go with the 4.6L found in ford expeditions and F150s. theyre a reliable motor. my family has a 01 expedition with the 4.6, and it has 150,000 miles (roughly) and has never had a single problem other than an o2 sensor. and the auto tranny works great. parts are plentiful, especially now with the gas prices going up again, every1 wants to get rid of stuff.

Ozzie have you seen a 4.6 up close? They're pretty big. It would be way easier to go with a 5.0. They're much much narrower.

ive opted to go for the chev 5.7, i have the motor, and everything for it, just need adaptor kit... im also not into the ford 4.6, the 5.0 is alot easier in my opinion, and can be carbed... which is what im lookin for... mainly for the cheapness of fixing... czu as of now, my 22re needs a new maf sensor or whatever theyre called, but ive tried another one from my old 92 pickup, but somehow they both dont work... so im just gonna go for the chev engine

how about makeing things really freaking easy and sticking a 22r in there? im not shure if the 22re head is the same as the 22r but that be awsome to just swap the manifold dizzy and control mod and go 350 would just add way too much weight and it seems to be way to expensive for what you whant

supip, holy thread rezz man, but ill answer ur question. hes looking for more power than these trucks give off, and either the 4.6, the 5.0, and the 5.7 chevy (though talk about HUGE!!! might as well get a GTO 6.0L!) give off WAY more power than his truck did when it rolled off the assembly line.

I am kinda wondering, does anyone with a reply actually have a domestic swap ? I have built several, and I hear a lot of talk. I don't understand why everyone has a problem with the Chevy dist. location. Mine is very accessable, and to be quite honest, I don't need to touch it but every 10000 miles or so. If your a tweeker you may need to touch it nightly. Chevy parts are real cheap and are everywhere, as well as Ford parts. Done right, either motor will run great, and don't need to be touched except for tune-up. Both will give the same mileage as a 22RE in a small pickup.

Personally I would go EFI, although I spend alot of time off-camber, so Carbs suck and require adjustment. My Chevota does that all for me, is Cali smog legal, and has not required anything. A non TBI 4.3 will double your horsepower, and torque, and is easy to put in and wire.

Youll love the 350. Ive got one in my 85 truck. Its a jeep eater. SO much power and ability, and a TON smoother then a 4 cyl. Yea it eats the gas, but it sounds bada$$

Gathering parts right now for 383 stroker .

I'll take pics as they show up. Had some laying around in our wrecking yard, so I decided to start a project, since I hear a slight knock in the bottom end of my 22r
