buy frame renforcements and for fitment be better if your truck has a solid axle and plate the frame and steering box

The suspension is fine 200 lb difference if you were originally a 4 cyl (even less if you are taking a 3.0 out). The automatics are close to the same weight, maybe 300-350 lb diff if you go from a 5spd to the gm automatic. If you feel you need it put a 2 in ball joint spacer and twist the torsion bars up a little. if you stay with the IFS you will have to modify the oil pan a little or drop the front diff and cross-member about 2". If you plan on thrashing it you will want to upgrade your axles unless you plan on driving it like mamaw in her Cadillac LOL. Moderate 4-wheeling I would advise an 8" Toyota sas for the front being the weakest link in the chain is the 7.5 front differently. I have learned that a rear locker is desirable as I am spinning the rear tire easily when driving conservatively with my 5.7 tbi, Toyota 5spd, 4.10 gears, 31.5 tires and your Vortec has about 70-80 more horsepower and ft/lbs torque

Oh yea a 3" body lift is a good idea to make a little more room for a V8 and an sas will make more room for exhaust manifolds getting the torsion bars out of thee way
