I have personally not heard of anyone doing it, but anything is possible with enough $$$.
I think the problem will be the drive by wire control of the ECU. I would think it would be better to get the entire donor vehicle to swap everything over. The gas pedal will have to be modified to handle the electronics of the drive by wire controls.
Don't let a little challenge stop you...and welcome to Yotatech!

5.7L thats a big block size I think... pretty sure you might run into clearance issues between the rad and the firewall. The drive by wire accelerator is not so much of an issue just remove the toyo one and bolt in the one from the donor chev. (this will take some careful fitting if it is even possible.
Make sure you measure very carefully before you start for fit and be very careful with the drive by wire accel. stuff those things are not to be messed with... see all the issues Toyo/Ford/GM et al have had with the goofy things over the past few years.

I made up my mind to replace same motor as my toy has 22R. It had blow up after hot water clogged or blocked. I hope not, the engine block cracked. I plan replace rebuild motor.
I ll post with the pixes here later
Thanks for input.

5.7 is a gen 1 unless you are talking about the ls1/6
5.3 is a gen 3/4 engine, which the earlier ones are drive by cable still.
dont remember off the top of my head what year tho, dropped a 2000 5.3 into my s10, real nice engine, once i find a good deal on a 6.2 for the s10 the 5.3 might drop down into the toyota
