im planning on doing a 5.3 swap on my 93 2wd 4runner and was wondering if i need a body lift for clearance. All the threads ive seen say its needed but all of them have also been 4wd. Any help would be great.

you can get away with a 1 inch bodylift and you should have problwms with hood clearence or ditch the bodylift and get a cowl induction hood

Or if you dump the truck intake on the 5.3 and use a LS6 intake, you wont have hood interference problems. (While using the LS6 intake shifts the TQ a little further up the rpm range, it will give you a good bit more hp/tq in the top end - and even with that shift, you will still have over 300ftlbs of tq from 2000 rpm on up. - LSx's are very very torquey and dont run out of breath up top like the old LT1s used to.)

Also look into getting a corvette accessory drive instead of the truck accessory drive - youll save yourself about 2" of wiggle room front to rear.
