It looks like Idaho is jumping on the 4.3l bandwagon. I am - that is for sure. I have my 91 TBI 4.3l in but am now stumped on quite a few things. They include the Painless #6101 wiring harness, radiator hose routing, serpentine belt set up(s), A/C, Power Steering, Fuel pump, etc. These are the biggies right now. It seems like there is quite a bit of info but lots of it differs.... Any hints or pics you can send my way would be great. I think I will set up a thread with my build so far and hopefully folks who have done the tbi swap can chime in with do's and donts that they know work or doesn't. Thanks in advance.

wouldn't something with around 240hp beat the hell out of the yota's (84-89) frame/structure and drivetrain?

the stock 22re with only 116HP will beat the hell out of it. depends on how you drive it. But the fully boxed frame is extreemly strong on ts own.

Kinda funny you started this forum, Im also in Lewiston, Id an Im about to start the same swap

I have an 87' 4runner with a 97' 4.3 in it. I run a th350 trans adapted to a yota case. I used the stock radiator and the the stock fan and clutch. I used the stock t/c cross member and fabbed my own motor mounts. The stock yota fuel pump will not work for the 96 and later motors. They need 61 lbs of presure. The 95 and earlier needs 17 lbs. I used a Howell stand alone harness. I ran duel sending units to run all my stock gauges. The tach works fine with no mods. I used the stock exhaust manifolds. The 96 and later units use 4 o2 sensors. One on each manifold and one pre-cat and one post-cat. I run 4.10 gears with 35's, no overdrive and i get 17 mpg around town and 19/20 on the highway. Its a good swap, no regrets. Doing another one on a 95 runner. Starting tomorrow. Will post pics.
