I'm still not sure why people do this swap ? .. for the effort and expence in doing so , why not just got with a 350 small block ? .. I know the weight is a little more , but really , the potential HP vrs. weight , is a no brainer ! go big or go home !!

350 with minor mods can produce 300hp + + + easily .. run a turbo 350 turbo trany , and with a simple adapter , can be mated to a toyota transfer . We did this back in the 80's

same mounts , same clearances ...just the 4.3L is less HP !

you could also add a 671 Blower , and that would just to much !!!!

if your gonna put a 350 in a yota its gonna be broke more often than it will be runnin cause theres simply too much power for a little truck to handle, the 4.3 liter put out plenty of power to do anything you need to be doin and its a really reliable engine.

im getting geared up for the same swap into my 82 extracab. the 4.3 im using is pre vortec. but it makes alotta power compared to wore out 22r. and im still not decided on tranny either. its good to see threads on this project. im still working out how to wire the chevy ecm. the 4.3 im using is in a 91 chevy pu. runs great so i should be able to transfer all needed elec. to make it run, right??

i've been throwing this idea around myself.. i picked up a 22re truck that i was going to rob the efi off of to throw on my truck to replace that junky carb but now i'm thinking the 4.3 swap would be better.. i would really like to see this project completed.

i'm thinking 4.3 tbi with toyota 5 speed. my friends dad has a 80's toyota 4x4 with a built 350 it's such a pile of junk, it's hacked up, tears up all the time.. to much of a pain in the... well you know what

if there is a way to complete this swap under $2000 that would be the cats meow...
