ok i have used the search button. anyway my question is who sells all the adapters i need to do this swap from a 22re to a 4.3tbi (not vortec if that matters)? also what parts need to be fabracated? one thing that might be a problem so far is i wanted to keep A/C, the toyota has it and works good but the 4.3 does not it there an adapter for this also? for anyone that has done this how much does it cost not including the motor and trans?

What tranny are you going to use? Chevy 5 speed or auto?

 

not sure yet what ever is the chepest and easiest

 

advance adapters has the bellhousings for the 4.3 swap so you can use your 5speed tranny and transfer case. they also have complete kits for the install

email the guys at www.rockbuggysupply.com for advance adapters parts. they are MUCH cheaper on the tranny adapters.

 

one more questions is there a write up on doing this swap anywhere or does anyone know what does not come with these kits that has to be fabed up?

 

I have been looking into this modification as well....

I went down and bought an 1994 Vortec 4.3L engine form the junk yard
I;, look into the cost of a rebuild now, as im breaking down the motor which had 155,000 miles on it

For adapters downey off-raod and advanced adapters have alot of of the conversion accessories.

From what i can understand so far is the cheapest way to do the conversion so far is to use a GM motor, transmission, and transfer case.

If u decide to use the Toyota trans case expect to spend between 500 to 600 $$ on adapters.

At first the idea sounded easy, expensive, and ideal....
I decided to go with a 4.3 vortec, 4L60-e trans.

The GMC jimmys and small truck have a drivers-side front-axel side mount.... so i have decided to go with an NP205 trans case out of a large suburban, I will need to buy a slip-yoke elimination conversion (about $300) and have to worry about axel shortenining..

I figure that way it will cost the same (about $600) but will be bullet-proof.


Still have to figure out transfercase mounts (welding) radiators, transmission coolers, oil coolers, exhaust fab., electrical......ect, ect, ect,

But hay i figure the motor will put out 295 hp, 260 ft/lbs. as compared to the stock 90 hp 20r.

POWER COSTS $$$$$, enuf said,,,,,,,

 

If you are talking about a stock 4.3, those power numbers are more like 190-215 HP, and around 240-260 for torque. That 4.3 compared with a stock 20r will feel more like a dragster. And I do agree with the power costs $$$$. You have to pay to play. Good luck with this. Also, I think Downey makes headers for the 4.3 in the 1st gen pickup conversion.
