swap advice
Ok guys.... Looking for a bit of advice from smarter folks than myself. I have an 85 4runner 36 inch irocks with 4.7 Tcase and 5.29 gears. I'm getting ready to put in a 2nd stock Tcase. The 22re is running fine but would love to throw a diesel in it in the next couple years and have to start packing funds away now. I have an 84 MB 300D that I use for my work commute. Should I swap that motor in since I have it, or is it gonna be too much torque for my gearing? Should I keep the Benz as my commuter and do the VW swap?.... Please keep budget in mind as I don't have the talent or space to do the work myself..... Thanks!

not having the ability to do it your self has already thrown the word "budget" out the window IMHO. but to answer your questions, the MB will be the easier swap (from what ive seen, but I have been wrong in the past). and you may have to regaer to 4.10s or maybe higher if you want to have any type of freeway use. give POWERSTROKEJOE a look up, he seemed to handle it pretty well..
good luck though, the diesel swaps are awsome..

Your right.... I should have prefaced budget. What I ment is one significantly cheaper to do. I plan a 2 year saving program. She doesn't sure the freeway except on a trailer...... I drive it to the beach in the summer but that's about it for the road time..... But I am concerened with the increased torque and super low gears.
