Hey folks, for those that have swapped their 3.0 V6 for the OM617 and used the Mercedes power steering pump, how did you connect the Mercedes power steering pump hoses to the Toyota steering gear box? I am trying to finish this project up pronto and this is my last holdup. Any input is appreciated. When I first started this swap I had heard that the power steering was an easy bolt up bam kind of deal, but unless I am missing something that is not the case.
For the supply (high pressure line) I went to a local hydraulic shop and had a hose made with Toyota fitting on one and, Mercedes on the other.
For the return (low pressure) I cut off the end off Toyota and Mercedes stock return line and used hose + proper hose clamps (not worm gear) to join them. Return pressure is low enough to allow this. Added a small cooler inline return also too.
This is the stock Mercedes line. You will need one of these, and the one from your truck as well. Cut the crimped part of the hose off (preserving the barbs) then take it to a machine or hydraulic shop they can put a new flexible section on for you.
On my truck you can see the High pressure line attached, return line fitting is blocked off w/tape.
Ok I see. But my original toyota pressure line is a hard line. Will they need me to bring in the threaded part of that hard line? Sorry to sound so needy but the first and only time I went to have a hose made the guys helping me looked at me with blank faces when I showed them metric fittings haha

I'm finishing up my swap and I'm using the MB pump. I used the stock power steering line for the 1990 4Runner 22r and it plugs right into the MB pump. http://www.autozone.com/suspension-s...472_0_0_32453/
As for the return line I used the MB fitting on the pump and the toyota on the box and ran a section of the toyota line to connect them. Good luck!
