So do you have to flip a switch momentarily to kill the engine?

I picked up a Chilton's today which will hopefully answer a lot of my generic questions. I found the wiring diagram, but it's pretty vague. I traced the wires for the glow plugs to the black box, but don't know what I need after the black box. I'm assuming you put a glow plug light in your dash. I have some unidentified wires, that I'll take a pic of tomorrow and post up. If you feel like I'm thread jacking, I'd be more than happy to post up in my build thread, but no one's been posting in it yet....

i took the factory harness from the glow plugs to the controller box and cut all 5 off, put ring terminals on them, attached them to a ford starter solenoid i mounted behind the headlight, and put a push button on my dash. works great and every parts store stocks a $10 solenoid for emergency repairs wherever i may be. i kinda approached this project with that mindset. i want something that is easy to replace, and something that every store stocks so that if something were to fail, i wouldn't have to wait a day or more to get the part.

the rad is mounted in the back kinda trophy truck style angled forward, there are 2 - 1.5" pipes running all the way back to the bed where the rad is mounted and i am not running an intercooler. turbo and manifolds are stock as of yet. and yes. its been finished for about 6 months now

used the factory vac hose off of the yota and re-routed it straight to the vac pump. the benz does the same thing with the brakes.

Can u post a pick of your oil pan, I have read that you need to cut or trim your pan in a om617 swap ?
Or is that only with high steer ?

I am collecting parts for my 1985 4ruuner OM 617 swap

The lift thing is only for hi-steer. if i decide to go high steer, I will have to go for more lift too.

the pan? the objects in question are the steering center link and the lower oil pan. this has nothing to do with the front diff. mine, at full flex, misses the pan by about 2 inches.

8 freaking years

8 years since I Diesel swapped! Now it's on 35s, lockers, still 3.9 gears, still getting around 30mpg, and many many miles on the swap.
I can't believe where the time has gone. Still one of the best things I did to this truck. Cheers!
