The problem with that is it leaves no room for a radiator and cooling fan.

Well I understand the radiator clearance issues, but it would not be smart to make everything from the engine back be a custom part, i.e. driveshafts, mounts, bellhousing, trans mount, etc. Throwing driveshafts into the mix would easily add another $500 to the total cost of a swap. Not saying its an impossible feat, but we take a no BS, engineered approach to design, that's what we are and what we do at the OEM level (by day). Once I get a chance to crunch the data and see how everything lays out, I'll determine if the trans/eng has to move back. I am heading to Japan on Friday for 2 weeks, so it won't be til after then. Like I told a fella in a private message, I have a ton of data for the engine bay, the V8 engine, the R150,R154,W56 transmissions, as well as data for "alternate 4cyl" swaps. I just can't crunch it til I get back.

The australian stuff is really good, in fact I'm a Motec dealer and have several friends in australia, so hats off to those guys on all the cool stuff they do.

We are just trying to fill a void in the US, and support some additional swaps. Fill in with some other parts like mounts, crossover pipe, ecu alternatives, etc.

I had this made at the carbon shop while I was in Japan. Picked it up on the way from the airport to home. It's not relevant to this vehicle, but we are working on some cool things in several markets, this is for a 340hp 4cyl we build for some of our customers. We designed it, made the mold, then let the carbon guy do his work. Came out really nice.

Those are beautiful bellhousings, is that a Dellow or Castlemaine or someone else? I think between those 2 companies you could swap just about any engine to any transmission :-)

Is this something you are going to be manufacturing for resale?

Yes, We had 50 cast as a first run batch.

We have been busy with other projects for our parent company, I hope to be back on this on Saturday, working on the machining jigs for the remaining castings of the batch.

This is awesome and I have just spent about five minutes looking on the net for the
1uzfe and holy smokes you can pick them up super cheap with around 65k miles insane!!!

Question for you do you have to get one that was out of a vehicle with a 5spd? If the 1uzfe was pulled from a car with a auto will you run into problems with the 1uzfe ecu and the 5spd R150f?

Thanks

Chris

There were never any 1uz-fe equipped cars available anywhere in the world that came from the factory with a manual transmission. Most of the swaps convert them to 5spd with no problems. Other than wiring it so the ECU thinks its in neutral all the time so it will allow the starter to engage its easy.

Thanks for the info after I posted the above question I got to thinking about the fact that the 1uz-fe mostly comes out of luxury cars

on a side note for those of you looking for bell housings I found a shop selling them on Ebay for a pretty darn good price.

I have no idea about the quality of the company of the product but the price is worth some research. Here are some pics to the bell housing and the auction link. Price is $485.00 and free shipping

Ebay Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1uz-1...item4151d28c48

KSR Racing website (shop that builds the bell housing)

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=7546.0

Another link on thier forums with install info

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=30328.0

If anyone knows any details of this housing or the company please post some info. Hope this helps those who are wanting to do this swap but are being held back by sourcing a Bell housing.

I wonder if Twisty is still around. Did you have any more trouble with the drivetrain? Ie not being able to handle the additional power/torque? I noticed in one post you blew the front diff.

all u have to do is get a heavy duty u-joints for the front drive shaft.
the reason why Twisty's front diff broke was that he was doing a competition and he probably over abused it to much.
