Me and a few other 4wd monthly forum members got invited out to Landcruiser Mountain Park yesterday to shoot a dvd for the magazine. Had an absolute ball, and was good to finally give the 4runner a run on some decent tracks out at Cruiser Park.....Only breakages was one of the rear flares got ripped off from the tyres scrubbing on it, then I ran over it. Should have taken them off before doing camp road, but it is repairable..so all good.
Phew pics.
Exiting Camp Rd (you can see the passenger side rear flare missing in this pic)
Meeting up with Roothy planning what tracks to do for the day.
Waiting at the bottom of Camp Rd
Posing on a stump at the Pig Pen
Cruiser Canyon

Thx for the info. I live in brissy. Before you rip it apart, I'd be stoked if i could head up and have 10 minutes of ur time(w/case of beer donation). I'm trying to get as much info before opening up this can of worms cause i've only got a window of 1 week to do all this at the end of next month and don't want any surprises, at least no big ones. cheers

Did you happen to hook your air conditioning back up? Or did you just eliminate it?

Twisty - That truck is killer! Looks just like mine, but not stock...
Good job on the work. My desktop at work is a picture of your truck...it's motivation for me to SELL, SELL, SELL!!! Then, perhaps one day I can have a V8 4Runner as well!
Again...AWESOME truck!!!

Hello Twisty,
Firstly NICE... Very NICE!!!
I have a 89' 4Runner (same color) with a 22R stock and I am looking at doing the same.
My first question is, did you have to weld or change anything to the chassis to mount the gearbox, you mentioned before it moves back about 1"???
any help would be much appreciated

i gonna do this swap
funny part is i thought of this swap before i even look to see if it was done
the transmission can be done some many ways
adapter plate to 1jz bell housing to r series trans using toyota supra clutch
this will move the motor frowd 1 inc so the transmission should not have to move
can you explain this monte for me again
just need to finish my stupid mk3 supra

Hey Twisty, 2 quick questions.
I'm bout to do a swap, leaning towards the 1uz. Do you know if the 90-97 1uz is the same as the 98 and up 1uz, dimension wise?
The other question, do you know if the R151F Transmission will work just as nice?

Depending on which model, the exhaust manifolds are different. The ones that come in the SC400 are different & will fit in the trucks with little or no modification. There are also 3 different oil sumps (front, mid, rear); if you're looking at putting in an IFS truck, you'll want the front sump model to fit, which may STILL require some modification.
